Indoor Potting Question - Paint Containers

CANNABYTE

Member
Dear Cannabis Fanatics,

I am ready to start putting my clones in pots for indoor growing and I was collecting 4 Liter plastic paint containers to use for pots. The problem is that most of these containers have the dried up paint on the insides of the wall.
My question is ..... Will this affect my plant or am I to clean the walls of these containers fully?
What should I use to clean since its really dificulto to come off???

All opinions will be appreciated.

Thank you

I'd abandon the used paint container idea.

Whatever chemicals you use to remove the paint and the time it takes will cost you in many ways...

One gallon growbags are 15 cents each... Start small and graduate up to the 25 cent 3 gallon bags for flower...

Yeah cleaning those buckets is not worth the time or effort. And you never know what might leech into your soil. Not a good idea.

Especially when you can get really good pots cheap at WalMart or any place that sells paint.

This are 1 L paint pots from WalMart. They come in sizes 1L, 2L, 4L, and 8L. 1L ones are like $.59 each. They are perfect for growing and can be used over and over. I melt 4 holes on the bottom of the sides. The sides are very smooth and tapered so the plant come right out when time to transplant.

If you're worried about light and your roots (personally, I don't worry and my plants don't either), you can always cover the pot with something.

1 Liter paint pots from WallyWorld

These were free. Laffy Taffy containers--3 liters. They are square which is nice. 25% more soil in the same "footprint". The 4 corners are even chopped off making perfect spots for drain holes. LOLOL!!

BTW my roots seem to be fine, and its in a clear bottle no label on, tons of roots.
