Indoor Organic Growers

Howdy Folks! BACKCOUNTRY and I decided to do a part 2 thread to our original indoor/cab grow. We are now doing an all organic grow in the Beast SR. For those of you unfamiliar, we refer to our grow cab as the Beast. Since we have two of them, the original is SR and the second we made is JR. SR. is a SOG grow powered by dual 150w HPS with an aircooled hood, and JR is a SCROG grow powered by a 70w HPS and a couple CFLS's. Here are some pics of the grow...

If you are unaware of our previous grow, click the link in my signature to visit. It has construction of the cabs, growth progress pics, and harvest pics to check out. This will most likely be our main indoor thread for updates from here on out. Keep it green!

Thanx guys!

I suppose they can move the thread if they like, I have noticed that some grow threads get moved to the "Diaries" forum and some are left, not sure what the differences are.

The new crop in in a Organic mixture of 1/3 co-co coir, 1/3 Perlite, and 1/3 Worm castings. We will do some fertilising with a light Worm casting/Guano tea here and there, but it is ment to not need much help there considering the high ratio of castings in the mix.

Backcountry, ya those wormcastings will help for a little bit, but they wont have enough bang in the N department to get you thru the veggie stage. Ever consider throwing in a little blood meal in the mix before hand? about the quano tea... u'll be using a high nitrogen bat quano in tea form? I like to put blood and bone meal into the mix before hand, that way i can just use straight water with a little thrive alive added for most the veggie stage....when and if they need a dose of N is when i decide to give them a tea...but most the time everything in the soil is sufficient. Also, what are you doing for the mag and cal... using dolomite lime? -Opt

Hey Folks... A couple new pics taken with my new cam, just getting the feel of it, so the pics will only get better. I must say, for not having a tripod they look pretty decent, take a gander...

Here's a couple pics of last crop's harvest...

These pics are of the SCROG grow in Beast JR.

Zoom in on that sucker, yummy!

True, Worm castings have N-0.5 P-0.5 K-0.3 and Blood meal is N-11 P-0 K-0, Bone meal N-1 P-11 K-0.

Organic NPK nutrient content

But consider that this is not a "Fertiliser" used by the TBS and Cup, these worm castings are a 1/3 of the total volume of the potting mix, I actually used too much! Also consider thses are not worm castings made from yard waste, these are my own kitchen scraps-about 1/3 Coffee grounds(very high in N), the next 1/3 lettuce/Cabbage, and the rest assorted non-citrus fruit. I'd say the NPK is even higher. I am going to use a light tea to make sure everything stays good, mostly worm castings and High P Seabird guano. And by the way, there is no Veg stage going on here, these guys are on bloom lock.

People regularly planted in heavy casting mixes on OG, and did no further nutrition. Worm castings contain all the bacteria needed to break down the nutrition fast for the plants as they need it, so basicly almost all the nutrition in them will be available to the plants as they need it. Its natures perfect soil!

No, I do not use animal wastes(fish on occasion) indoors, outdoors, or in my garden. Outdoors because of pests, and also because I do not believe those products are healthy to handle, thats just my own personal preference.

Dolomite is in the soil mx, 2 TBS per gallon of soil.

For making tea, I use a large bucket or jerry can, I ran a Aereation stone in through the top, and let it lay on the bottom, in goes the tea material(I don't use a "tea" bag), also 1 TBS of Molassas per gallon to promote growth of good soil bacteria. I then run the air stone through the brewing tea for about 48 hours before use.

Why are they all in one container? Also how long do you plan on continuing this?

They are all in one container for our convience, also the tub is set up with eyehooks all around the rim to tie the plants down for training.

This is crop #2 in the beast, I think we will continue growing as long as we can, to answer your ??????

I have not gotten a chance to drop by the grow since we started this crop like 2 weeks ago, so I am not really sure what is going on with the yellowing of leaves. I suspect that the heavier soil mix is holding lots of water and drowning the roots, other than that I guess i just have to make time and drop by, I juat hate seeing our babies struggling like this!
