Indoor fabric pots raised beds pvc DIY?

Howdy folks,

I want to try raised beds for my next run as I suspect the 5 gal smartpots are just too small. So I want to run lower numbers and more soil.

I found the grassroots raised beds with pvc pipes and liked the concept very much since you can easily attach another PVC pipe layer to add a trellis net.

However, I can't find them in Europe.

So my question to y'all fine gentlemen is if there is any DIY version for building these.

The issue you'll run into is finding a sewing machine that's capable of sewing together the heavy fabrics associated with soil beds that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I have one of the grassroots raised beds, and I am very happy with it.

How clean is your grow room & your grow room work area ?

I would always start indoor soil grow ideas ... then find myself vacuuming a lot more.

or a water container would break and I would end up with $15K in mold damage.

One reason to go for soil.

I suggest putting a concrete mixing tub under anything that holds water - because they do break.

Are you in an apartment building where a mistake in the grow could leak onto an apartment underneath ?

Got several sewing machines on the female side of relationships so that should be easy.

So I just get sturdy PVC piping (also have experience with that, found a source that sells more or less nothing but PVC piping and can get it in all kind of strengths etc.) and where would I get the fabric for the pots? I saw a couple of US stores but nothing here in EU that sells that fabric by the foot/meter or whatever.

I think root pouch is fairly strongly represented here in EU, other than that I only ever saw smart pot and a loooooooot of knockoffs from china.

So basically the question is where do I get the fabric from and which fabric do I take.

re the other question about cleanliness:
I built my growroom myself out of wood and used sturdy wood bars which are about 5 cm in height for the basis. I just stapled thick pond liner to the inside/top of those wood bars/beams on the ground, thus creating a "basin". I never had any issues with overflow. But I don't auto-water yet. Still have the pressurised blumat system sitting in boxes, everything ready, hundreds of bucks invested and never set it up in 3 years ...

But yeah, the dirt remains in those pond-liner basins I created and I just vacuum and sometimes scrub with bleach in between grows. Don't think it's the cleanest space but aside from some spiders in the corners when I have longer downtimes between grows, I haven't noticed anything alarming.

pretty much what I was looking for, thx! Like I said, just got to source the fabric now and I'll be off to the races.

I also plan to put the raised beds on a wooden pallet this time around. Think the floor contact might cause the bottom zone of the soil to bee too cold for the roots. Even though I have some insulation material below the pond liner... But seems like that wasn't enough. In the 5 gal fabric pots, the roots never went down into the bottom layer of soil.
