How do you figure out how many gallons your pot holds say you got a 10 inch pot that's 8 inches tall and slightly tapers?

For future reference:

I jacked the first two from a gardening site and the third one has been around a while. lol...I still see Caligrower's stuff popping up on from time to time.

Hope this helps some.

cool thanks for those charts I can estimate sizes now although some taper so it might decrease the volume a little.

It is my understanding that Caligrower figured the taper into his calculations. So, they should be, more or less, accurate.

By-the-way, I beleive it is the area of the circle times the height that gives the volume for a cylinder. A 10" X 8" pot is just over 2 gallons.

A square pot you figure Side A x Side B X height = square inches.
A round pot you figure the radius (half the distance across the pot) x radius x 3.141(Pi) x height = sq inches.

269 sq in = 1 gallon dry weight
