In Bred Line / IBL breeding

Question - if I have IBL seeds, and I breed them, would the resulting seeds be IBL seeds too?

Edit - here's why I ask.... I have some old Reservoir seeds that I believe are IBLs. So I want to make some seeds and wanted to know if they will be true. I guess it depends if they are really IBLs. I don't how reliable Rez was/is.

Not really.... there’s likely to be variations even in an ibl, and you would be selecting parents that may well not be the same ones the original breeder would choose.

As long as the traits you are choosing are the same as the original breeder the line should remain very similar.


If I recall correctly, there was some variation in Rez's IBL seed lines.


Anybody can make inbreed seeds but selecting for very specific traits is what creates stabilization (for the traits selected) within a given line.

Just remember that if you inbreed you may well loose vigor and often get Teratogenic plants from inbreeding.

But to be able to stabilize a line somewhat you will have to inbreed.

I used to get them on a Big Bang (ghs) clone I once kept.

Ive been meaning to ask someone about it that has experienced it. Do you feel like the nugs forming at the fan leaf bases took away growth from the main nugs? Or is it like Christmas with a ton of extra popcorn nugs as well?

Ive really wanted to find a plant with that trait.
