Anyone got any tips/advice? Anyone here got one?

When i was a kid motorised planes was a wet dream of mine, but i simply couldnt find one back then.

Now there all kinds of choices.... i figured i will go for a electric motor.... there is a very nice A400 model that needs 4 engines but i think its too much for a first time.

I figured im gonna get a single engine light plane. Gonna order a kit, build it myself, add engines etc... :dance013:

Also, theres no epodrom here whrere i am, but a huge park with grass land, so it means planes must be capable of taking off/ landing off grass.

make sure you start out with a trainer.. an overwing plane.

the weight hanging under the wing helps slow down its maneuvers.

electric is a great choice. get a good brushless motor and esc combo. make sure to run a BEC. and don't skimp on the radio. i would get an ARTF not a RTF. you'll know more in the end and be a better operator for it.

you will wreck it.. it happens. don't let it discourage you. buy the replacement parts and get back out there.

my great uncle used to put a thing of gasoline inside them and fly them as they burst into flames. Not sure how he did it but he would spend hundreds of hours building these awesome planes only to fly them for a minute while they burn in the air. He was a really bad alcoholic, idk.

Love uncles for this reason. I can't wait for the family stories about me heh. Uncle foolish lit himself on fire for no reason. True story heh.

Can't offer any advice on the planes, but a couple of years ago I bought one of the helicopters. Little electric one that fly’s inside Got to say it was so neat.
I was just amazed at the the quality and the prices of the little things - hope you make out as well with the planes .

Best advice is go to a local hobby store. LHS Is the lingo. Google a local flying club. It is so much fun to go fly with a couple friends and drink some beers and repair airplanes. I flew helicopters but still the same. Great time sink and money pit. It's a lot of fun.

As said above, I would also recommend looking in to the micro RC Champ. It is around a hundred bucks. Try out one of these to get the feel for flying, then work up to faster more expensive stuff. The micro planes need to flown in little to no wind though, so that is a limiting factor.

Check out some of the foam airplane builds, if you are a DIY type. All the supplies can be had at your local home improvement store (minus the electronics). Get a good transmitter, a handful of servos, motors, batteries, and other 'stuff'. Experimental homebuilts are fun to design... and crash. I have set so many 'low altitude' records on my property it aint even funny.

This will give you some ideas.
