Maybe if the woman were giving equal rights, and they too could have 5 husbands than i would see your religion to make some sense.

If you truly read into the muslim texts the prophet mohammed stated no such thing. his words have been distorted and changed over time to support whoever is in power, to support their agenda and their perception on how life is "supposed" to be lived. I understand that you would feel this way, considering our society also buys into that stigma/belief system, but once again it is a matter of control. For our society and theirs.
research Sufism, they are a sect of Islam that beleives all Gods are to be respected, and all Gods are of the same aspect of creation. In turn, they do follow what the prophet mohammed fundamentally said, but when times change and beliefs shift into a place of Fear and power struggle, the Sufi's are the first to notice and detach for their beliefs, for they know Love is the only religion.
Not bashing, ragging, or anything, but what the media/government/religions that have been distorted are spitting is not the True essence of what has been told. It is merely a false statement utilized to control people through Fear.
