DEARBORN, Mich. — A police officer in this Detroit suburb was allowed to resign after admitting he took marijuana from criminal suspects and, with his wife, baked it into brownies.

Gee, if I get caught making 'brownies', can I avoid persecution by simply resigning?

"If you're a cop and you're arresting people and you're confiscating the marijuana and keeping it yourself, that's bad. That's real bad," City Councilman Doug Thomas told the Detroit Free Press for a story Thursday.

"That's like apprehending a bank robber and keeping some of the money for yourself."

Because he was nailing people - destroying lives and destroying families, he should get life in prison - BECAUSE he was a cop and arresting people for the same crime. How many, whom he took the pot from - are sitting in prison now, lost jobs and careers, lost spouses, and lost their children and homes? This is why he should get a severe penalty of biblical portions.

Sanchez later told police investigators that his wife took the marijuana out of his police vehicle while he was sleeping. In a subsequent interview, he admitted he got the marijuana out of the car himself, put it in the brownie mix and ate the brownies.

We used to sneak into this country club pool at night to swim. that night we ran when the police came only to find from our hiding place, the police (about 10 of them) swimming in the pool.. AND drinking our confiscated beer. That was a good life lesson for me at the time.

From what I know most police departments dont random at all If there is one job that should be drug tested it is the police. They are SUPPOSE to protect and how can you use your best judgement if your fucked up on anything?

Well i just called the City hall of dearborn MI and ended up talking to a commader guysin from the dearborn police. Basically they said he wanst charged cuz he overdosed and they dont chagre peopel when they Od. Also he gave every excuse in the book as to why he didnt charge him but none of them made sense. he said " but he lost his job and that costs him millions of dollars over his life" and i said " well that happens when you get busted for pot, the average person will lose their job and go to jail but you guuys skipped the jail part"

I said " given the choice of being charged or quitting your job most peopel would quit their job but that option isnt given to average joe, just cops and thats bullshit"

we went back and forth for about 10 minutes, all i got from convo was that he was a cop , he quit and they are happpy. If i was busted in MI and sitting in jail for pot i would start a riot over this shit.

Thats how i feel. i just dont see how he isnt charged with a crime and others are. I mean he stole evidence from the police locker and used it for himself. The commander used exuces that since he OD'ed that they wont charge him. 2 problems with that. Its impossible to OD on pot, you cannot take in the amount required to OD. Also if he would have taken evidence and sold it for a profit that would be a crime but taking it and using it for yourslef isnt a crime?

i think all MJ busts are crap dont get me wrong. But i think the officer abused his power and s being treated above the law. He broke the law and only lost his job for it. If that wa syou or me we would have lost job and been in jail. I just dont get it

Why Thank you very much for the kudo's. i have a long standing hatred of all police oficers and all law enforcemnt officers. to me the only good cop is a dead cop, i talk a far off stance than most on my view towards police and alot will disagree with me. But the only good cop is a dead cop.

So a few things that bother me with this

1. He made brownies- How did he know how to make brownies? did he get a recipe online or has he had previous experiance. most people just smoke it

2. They didnt arrest him cuz he OD'ed- first off its impossible to OD off of pot. Its been proven time and time again. Also if they dont bust peopel that OD, anyone pulled over while smoking should say they OD'ed to avoid charges since the cop said he OD'ed and avoided chagres

3. He stole evidence then lied about how he got it- lying to hinder and investigation is called obstruction of justice which he should be charged for. Also stealing evidence is also a crime to which he didnt get charged with. so its ok for cops to take evidence for personal use and only troulbe you get is lose your job? I would wait for a huge coke bust if i were a cop and take about 20 KGs and quit then, get alot of cash and leave.

4. saying he lost his job is punishment enough- the average joe gets busted for dope can lose his job, have kids taken away from them, have assetts seized, have property taken and be trown in jail for years. what makes this man exempt from being punished as a normal tax paying citizen ( which are his bosses since they pay his salary) would be?
