If you could move anywhere in North America...

Hey gang,

I've been thinking about this a lot. The revolution of the States legalizing has intrigued me greatly. Marijuana has always been one of my biggest passions in life, I've grown off and on since I was in college and I've tried to immerse myself in my state's medical program.

However, I think my state's gouging of the marijuana industry is fucking pathetic and I don't want to be a part of that. It's clear the industry here is going to be so highly taxed that it will be next to impossible to get anything going here.

So I'm wondering where you guys would move if you're a grower who's looking to make a living and help build this new industry (for 'Meruica) It's clear there's going to be a new Silicon Valley for marijuana somewhere in the next few years, I want to be there when it jumps off.

Interested to hear your thoughts. :dance013:

I'm happy here in Silicon Valley as a software developer. I moved here in 2010 partly for a job but mostly for legal weed. I can grow whatever I want for personal use as long as I renew my doctor's recommendation every year.

The cost of living is crazy though. A one bedroom apartment here costs 3 times as much as one in Florida, where I'm from. It would be hard to move here just for the weed unless you're rich or are already working in the technology industry.

It's worth moving somewhere if growing is a crime where you live. Growing where it's legal is better than risking prison time over a plant. I won't live in a place where it's illegal again.

Yeah totally, I'm up here in Washington State. It's nice but the local government here is getting really evil.

I'm thinking about getting a place down in Oregon in the next year. I'm a legal beagle med producer but I really want to get in on recreational in the near future and build a brand. But like I said, it's looking more and more like the location you're in will be absolutely crucial to your success.

Doesn't matter because the government will gangfuck all the citizens and slant the entire money game toward corporations and campaign donors (they already are in WA) but I think I might have a chance if I get a good start in a favorable place.

Good luck. I've thought about trying that, but I didn't want to give up my career to take that kind of risk. Right now I'm happy keeping my day job and just growing as a hobby.

cali for genetics, market for every grade and quantity, access to testing. anyone can enter the medical market there and rock 99 plants on the low end.

if the high cost of living bothers you, Michigan FTW. cheapest land, houses, elec and decent plant count for caregivers. better wholesale prices than the west.

RI has good plant counts and the over all quality of the medical market is shitty. if you can grow well there are lots of rich patients driving in from MA and CT keeping the top shelf Oz prices high.

I don't think there are as many places to go in the CO market. too many huge grows and they have the lowest prices. my 2 cents.

Well, my wife and I WAS thinking of the Keys as my final resting place but after this election NEW JERSEY is looking pretty good in comparison
lmao2.gif

Thought about Hawaii too but have already been thru the b/s on interracial crap in Asia, I'm not going to blow the kind of loot it takes to live in Hawaii and go thru it there.

How old are you? Age may be a factor. I would consider Washington state, Colorado etc but the cold does bad bad things to my spinal disease. I really seem to do a little better in the hot and humid atmosphere but there's no place in the USA that has legal cannabis and that humidity and heat.

I am told that I can get a legal document to relocate to a country in SE Asia and that it would be easy, could get it within a matter of days. And I'm already NO CODE BLUE so I'm not concerned "what if" because "what if" ain't gonna happen. You youngsters don't need to worry about that so pay it no mind for now.

What will you do for a living? Have you got a nest egg to get you thru really bad times? For how long? What if really bad times last a long time? I've always been a saver and my wife thank G-d is the same, even more so, I strongly recommend saving as much as you can, especially when you are younger, work and extra job and bank 100% of the money for example.

Sorry if it's not a very structured reply, am doing a bit of really off the charts Fire OG :dance013:

Have a nice weekend

I completely understand, I'm very fortunate that I'm the perfect age with no responsibilities. I've been fortunate to build up some money in savings and I'm trying to plan for the next few years.

I'll look into North Cali, 99 plants for medical? :jawdrop:

Colorado is amazing, I was randomly there for their first 4/20. Things already seem pretty sewed up there. I really love that place and their hockey team.

I'm going to start looking for property in North California. That 99 plants for med is absolutely mind blowing. 45 plants here in Washington State is nice but it doesn't leave a lot of room for experimentation or breeding which is some of the main stuff I'm interested in.

That's too bad about Hawaii, especially since I'm huuuggggeeeellllyyyy attracted to hawaiian ladies. But I would like to stay in the 48.

I'm in my late 20s and I'm all about saving my pennies. Matter of fact I would love an investments forum here because as I get older I'm getting more and more interested and involved with it. As shitty as it is in my experience, money seems to be the ultimate trump card and the only thing that matters.

I definitely think I should work towards and save for the next year or so to go to North California or somewhere in Oregon.

don't waste your money looking in Norcal. climates better in the south and there are crazy cheap fixer uppers around Joshua tree.
that area was subdivided into 5 acres + or - in the 50's and is pretty much abandoned or was never developed to begin with and is off grid.

it's like puna without the rain. livable places on 5 acres for less than 50K.
high fences and full sun or dig a deep hole and light dep.

for cheap CA real estate scope out where the closed government bases are.

You know ultimately when I'm rich and famous, I've always wanted to buy one of those old underground missile silos. That's always been my dream grow house. Those things are so freaking cool. It'd probably takes seven figures to modernize, update and put water and power into it but goddamn that would be the coolest place ever to grow.
