Yes, most search warrants are so broadly written that the police can usually get away with looking just about anywhere. If something is omitted in the warrant, it is a simple matter for the LEO to articulate a reason to search the omitted areas.

A lot of the time they seize all cash and vehicles when they serve the warrant and it's up to you to prove your property "innocent" (wasn't bought w/drug money) in civil court. Pretty f'ed up....

I lived at a place I was not on the lease...or on my dmv info...technically they did not know I lived there. But I was present...And the warrant like jscoripo said was "broad"...
More often than not...
My car was in the garage...after review of the warrant..I saw just how broad it was..so did my car..

Dorje, My car did not get seized...thats some bigger shit..I got caught up..but property was not seized..other than cash. On a fed level you can expect seizures. Its all about whos got the hard-on for ya..
Rule of thumb...if ya drive something nice..and your breached..make it a point that you owe a ton of cash on the car. Espically if you own it..and owe nothing.
Why?.. Easy enuf to figure out.

If you involve your family members or friends, then you also potentially criminalize them. If they don't know why you are taking such lengths for "security" then you are treading heavily on their trust. They could easily be caught in the crosshairs when and if the sh** goes down.

If they do knowingly assist you, then they are conspiratorial and you have furthered their involvement, and they have as well, by cooperating with your security measures.

If it's your mom's you'll be ok unless they think she knew, if they do they will charge her too, and both of you with conspiracy. They can say they think she may be involved and seize her car, she'll still have to fight it in court... dtf is right, anything is possible... seizures aren't a criminal matter so it takes a lot of $$ to fight them, so they do some pretty f'ed up things with property seizures sometimes....

To the property seized it is. Although it is often called Civil Forfeiture, the property in a weird sort of legal way is considered as participating in a criminal activity (in this case). Old maritime, wartime laws. Suspicion alone profiles your property.

There are many more now but it wasn't too long ago finding an attorney who knew his butt from swiss cheese regarding asset reclamation and forfeiture was a task in and of itself.

Yes, that's right. your seized property needs specialized legal counsel.
