I wear a tinfoil hat too, and saw the thread on someone getting a customs letter. Let's say you or someone you know never got a letter, and had dozens, maybe up to 50 successful mailings from various sources. All these arrived, but it still nags you what happened to a couple. They just never arrived.
Once (a while ago), a guy you do not know personally but who has a stellar image on a website claims he sent freebies to you, and claims he resent and neither arrived. Later, around Thanksgiving, someone else says they sent, and they also resend. You get only the second mailing. In between these occurences, you get an order quickly from the Boo. So basically, you have great luck, and never got a letter. but you are wondering what possibly could have happened to those you didn't receive. Any ideas what happened?

11 views, no replies, 1 vote, what is wrong with this picture? I hope it is just an off time of day for most people.

I've wondered this myself...packages just get lost into snail-mail world. I've sent myself packages that never made it, and I always wondered....Good thread and poll, but I don't think anyone really knows...

thanks for the response. well, of course if possible I would like to know the facts, if someone works at the post office or something and is "in the know". But I included the word "likely" in the title for a reason, speculation is ok but please say if you are speculating.

Once I was flying to Europe and mailed my self a nice piece of hash in a CD case. It was sealed, and I don't think it smelled, but it never made it to its destination. Another time, I sent a teddy bear stuffed with goodies from Amsterdam back to the USA, never made it. My guess is there is a post man that discovered some nice treats for him and his buddies.

I have heard from a friend that worked for FedEx that if a guy came in looking suspicious with a package, they would set it aside, and after the boss would leave for the day, they would open it up (illegal of course), and 80% of the time it was some party favors, bud or what not, that they would just keep for themselves...

As far as seeds go though, who really knows....

I've heard about more than one grower getting ripped off from less than reputable dealers.

I always get the $12 guaranteed arrival, and I always follow the tracking information the bank I purchase from provides. It's more for the peace of mind.

postal service & shipping companies handle MILLIONS of pieces a day. any mis-spelling of names, addresses etc will send it astray. no one is perfect, i've seen professionally printed labels that were wrong. transpose any number in zips etc, ditto. maybe your mailman will be the next one popped for NOT delivering his daily quota. happens all the time. OR, they have your phone line tapped & are watching you from the house down the street, & are even monitoring you on HERE! damn, that means they caught ME! you treacherous little backstabbing bastard, you led them right TO ME! or maybe not, whatever, LOL!:tiphat:

I'm not sure what to tell you about not getting your packages. I actually had a money order go missing for over a month. I ended up canceling the MO but it still never got to seedbay.
It's one of those things that will always bug you, try to just let it go.

this line is becoming common wherever you may go. only a couple of months ago i received a letter that had been opened and the slim seed container removed. in retrospect, i am pretty sure it was done by a postal employee when the seed container jammed up his automatic address reader. regardless, any misprint or misspelling will lose your mail these days.

if your mailer is of any value, spend the $10 and send it priority mail or better, and use the packaging provided by the post office and then be certain it will be delivered! never, never use ups or fedex. any rights you may think you have to privacy are gone once your package is in their hands. they may open any letter or package they are curious about. a federal warrant is required by the post office to open any first class letter. peace-biteme

Hahahahaha!
Oh that is funny!
:bump:
no it isn't! What's funny about it? At the very least it is so predictably lame and at worst it is in bad taste.

That is good advice and I thank you for offering it. It is all good info from everyone.

Dream Reader, yes I suppose that is good advice. But does anyone have more opinions or facts on what would cause something to not arrive? Where did it end up or where could it be now? Is it possible it could still be sitting in a post office somewhere? How could that be? I can understand if the sender didn't get all the mailing details right or the off chance that they delivered it to someone else. I do get my neighbors mail in my mailbox every once in a while so anything is possible. What are the other possibilities?

I found it funny
You don't own my sense of humour
If you thought the comment was particularly lame then you should have said so to the person posting it

NOTE: I will say that it wasn't very helpful either so for this I do apologize

If you didn't get the seeds and didn't get a notice saying they have been confiscated, then they are temporaily lost
It sometimes happens for whatever reason

I completely doubt the cops are on to you

Your seeds are simply missing for now and it could be for any number of reasons but I think they will eventually show up

AND the only reason why I thought this was funny is because we all go into the big 'what if' scenerio
Its just human nature

In retrospect I can understand that you are probably worried and a bit paranoid so it did appear thoughtless of me.

If you do happen to get a confiscation notice, just don't react at all
It doesn't seem to happen often but it does happen and some people will rip you off if given the chance
Its very unfortunate but it happens:comfort:

Try not to worry too much about it because we all worry FAR TOO much in this life

We NEED more humour

Ok thats MY excuse and I'm sticking with it:laughing:
