How Secure Would You Be?

  1. Busted as soon as you answer the door
  2. Busted if they were to enter room, stand still and look around
  3. Busted if they open one unlocked door
  4. Busted if they opened 2 or more unlocked doors
  5. Busted if they had a search warrent

I sit here and think about this a lot. If a police officer were to ring my doorbell about something, how nosy would he have to be before he got me.

Doesnt matter because if he rings the doorbell he doesnt have a warrant to enter. Dont answer the door. Cops with search warrants dont ring the bell. They bust in. Voted totally secure simply because of that.

I've got mine behind a locked gate with 2 dogs guarding it, If I didn't tell my dogs to back down im sure they'd rip the piggies dick off.

There are ifs and buts to this. Some people grow where they live, some don't. Some people stock a lot of produce in their home, some don't. So the question is rather, WHAT do you risk by opening the door?
Personally, cops first have to get through a locked main gate, then through a locked residence gate, then a locked inner door to the section where I live, which means they must mean business by going through that hassle. I don't even answer the door if someome unknown gets through the security, stoned or not. They can ring all they want, I won't open unless a cop holds up a search warrant. If they have one and enters, they'll find an assortment of quality bud, but not enough to make it worth all the trouble they've gone through.
I do hope they'll try it one day, I'd like to see their disappointed faces.

Interesting answers.

Isn't it the case these days that if they smell pot they've got reason to enter the property and investigate? And in the UK i've had cops walking around the house looking in windows for no good reason.

I was really thinking how secure are you at any time? And is it secure enough? Can you really be completely secure all the time>?

i have a question well a fact for ya..
if you have AN products, they alone is Probable Cause. no warrant needed if they see it or know u bought it (shall i explain why)
if you buy from AN Store
in short if you Buy or Use AN its one hell of a bullseye..
and yes cops are coming around to AN and soon "operation Advanced Roundup" will be in play..

yes, AN keeps Customer Names.. (they'd be stupid not to. Great for barginning when they are busted..

in the beginning i was for them but they got to public.. (and untill i found a short shelf life on all there products. (they admit it)
and now u cant buy or talk AN without Causing Serious Suspicion.

a side not on the PC (a while ago a freind was driving home from a shop with AN.. got rearended and trunk poped open with AN all over trunk. (3 parts and addys)
when the cops got there and did police report they looked at the car and the trunk lid had been Damaged and openish.. he lifted it and it was on..
they asked few Q's.. he said i grow tomatoes and this stuff is priced right and it works great. that night a ring at the doorbell without warrant..
he let them in the Grow area Only (threw the back door) and said this is what i grow.. (never seen them again) also the reason he didnt bother saying get a warrent.. and the rest of the house is a fishbowl so they saw he wasnt growing any where in the house.. a warrant woulda cased some problems..for him (this isnt hearsay however i heard it from his wife)

yes if they say they smell something that is somewhat PC..
it needs to be credible.. (if you have no record a warrant prob wont happen.. without them looking for something else) if u have a record a warrent is higher chance.

Lucky to have privacy rights at all. I'm in a country at the moment which has emergency terrorism laws in place which means no search warrant is needed and you can't refuse entry to a policeman. It's a bit messed up. All they need is a bit of a hunch.

Why aren't people voting in the poll? I don't think it constitutes a security risk.

Probable Cause, what a load of crap. I have been pulled over once, for a burnt out turn light or something like that, and the cop immediately looked in at me and said "I smell marijuana, mind if I look in the car?" "I don't know why you would find anything, but ok." Had not smoked in my car for a good while so what the hell. He looked for about 2 minutes, and said "Just head straight home and fix your light please."
"Yes sir," such bullshit. No smell, just went on the way I looked. Probably thought I was driving with lbs.

Cops can make up any bullshit they want when they get to the door and see you. Going around to houses asking for donations or something lame, and a long haired hippy opens the door, whammo. Smells like weed, we need to come in.

Ive had to deal w/ this question recently myself.

I do have guard dogs, and I do live in the boonies...NO one has any reason to ever just show up because they are in the neighborhood.

...and i'm in a pocket where the "local" cop shop is more than an hour drive and they have to passs thru another county to get here. I see a patrol cop maybe 1 or 2 times a year.

anyway a cpl months ago a sheriff stopped by looking for an address that doesnt exist....or if it exists its not where its supposed to be. (fake example i'm 117 ....closest neigbor is 125) ...they were looking for 121.

cop knocked on the door...I went upstairs to my 2nd level deck that doesn't have access from outside (i stood right next to my outdoor garbage can scrog) and talked to him from there (all the while I let my dog bark at him thru the downstairs door)

No smell and no reason for him to be there, and he even appologized for bothering me.

If a cop comes to the door find a way to talk to him w/out opening the front door...come around the back, or open then close then lock the door on the way out. do not give them easy access to your place.

in a car keep your gear locked in either the trunk or locked glovebox.
or in a locked safe....small safes only cost like 15 bucks at walmart.

...and just be sure u dont smell.

What can I say?

What can I say?

I'm secure because I'm California legal. And why would they even wonder about me? I'm a 60 year old teacher's aide who works in Special Education and has a disabled hubby! I keep well within our legal numbers on plants, grow discretely, NEVER sell, and never smoke with anyone but dear friends who are adults. I use a vaporizer for the most part and burn incense and my recommendations or photocopies of it are scattered here and there in my house (grow closet, bedroom file cabinet and more). I keep things quiet- no loud parties, nothing to make us really stand out.

I have had the cops over when there was a domestic violence dispute across the street. My little grow was a couple of weeks from harvest, but behind 2 closed doors at the other end of the place. (When it became obvious we would have the police over, I added more garlic and spices to the dinner I had cooking and turned it to the lowest I could go and left the lid off. Who needs incense when you're cooking Italian?) Anyway, they were here for half an hour, but focused on the problem, not on what was going on at my place. I lit one up as soon as they pulled out.

Yet because I am in compliance, helpful in the matter at hand, and quiet about using MMJ, I don't think I would be worth their trouble to alert the feds even if they did find my grow. If I were out of compliance and hostile, that might be another story- rural cops can be complete a**holes if you antagonize them. - Granny :joint:

I'm down to one quart jar left. I don't know what that weighs, so I don't know if I am below the felony possession level or if I have reached misdemeanor status? (I was saving it for the holidays... :headbange ...)

Thanks for the answers folks. It would be nice to think that just because we are quiet, otherwise law abiding, or not your typical shifty suspect, that we would be left alone. But it doesn't work like that anymore. Common sense is rarely applied by police - hell, any kind of independent thought seems to be banned.

A few years ago in the UK my housemate was busted for having 1/8th of soapbar when I was mugged and called the police. Odd thing having one guy asking you for a description while the other guy snoops around.

His was behind one unlocked door by the way.

I'm surprised more people aren't voting for the first option. I know plenty of people who have been caught because the cops canvassing the area could smell pot. But you know, UK has some screwed up prorities.
