Ideas for venting a room

I am going to have access to two rooms, the flower room is 12 x 12. But I'm not going to be using all the area. Basically i am going to have a 400hps (3x3) and a 600hps(4x4) to flower. My Q is exhausting and scrubbing the 12x12 room. What is a good size inline fan and carbon scrubber size. The room has two A/C vents in it.

Would go with a 12" somewhere in the 1,000cfm's. Build a sealed system for the lights and use the scrubbers to circulate air in the room and to clean it. Probably like a CAN125 or 2 small ones with 6" fans?

Hi bostrom,

There are lots of ways to do anything, it all depends on what will work best for your situation.

You have 2 a/c vents in the room which is great! Can you vent into the attic or something similar? Are your lights aircooled? The design depends on what equipment is available, or what the budget is.

These are just a few ideas, but the list is really endless. Just to get the creative juices flowing.

Using some panda paper you can section off part of the room so that its perfect size for your lighting. This will help maximize your lights output with a limited amount of light being lost and wasted. Normally 50 to 75 watts per ft is a good choice. Also make sure the footprints are aligned with the shape of your newly created section so that you are receiving the 50-75 wpf.

Exhausting into the attic is great, just make sure there is a carbon scrubber on either end. Both ends if you can manage.

The fan sizes depend on if you are just solely exhausting the room, or also air cooling the lights. For just the room a nice 6 inch inline fan would be more than enough so that you can run it on a variable speed controller for quieter operation as well as extending the life expectancy of the product.

hope this helps

A 6" fan/combo like HTG's http://htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=52609 combo. It's what I have however I dumped the fan for a smaller 6" from home depot. It works OK for me but yeah. THe HTG fan is LOUD, and HUMMMMMMS with a dimmer.... so.... be prepared for that.... When investing in a fan search out the quietest fan you can, you will wish you had.... no one warned me and I wasted money on it.

Love the input thank you. I currently have a 400hps, 400mh, 4" inline fan, stanley blower(yellow one) four 150hps and 2ft flo's and cfl's. I want a 600hps and a fan/combo. budget a little tight, 3 or 400.
I like the partition with panda paper. section off the 12x12 for the 400 and 600 hps. rest of my room and lights are for veg, clones ect maybe a mom. just need enough room in the flower chamber for the two light and to move stuff around. it;s in soil.
The lights will be cool tubed.

Just ordered the 600hps and the 199$ 6" Fan/Combo. Think I'm going to partition the room into 2 - 6x12 rooms. Wondering if i could use the 6" fan for the flower room and cool tube the 600 and 400.
