Ideas For Vented Door? (stealth)

First off the specs:

1000w HPS w/ an air cooled reflector
465cfm vortex with a carbon filter.
3.5x5x8 enclosed room (here's where the problem comes in)
co2

Ok, basically I'm having a hard time figuring out how to run the ducting without having to have the door open. Right now I leave the door open just enough for the ducting to run out when the light is on. I was thinking about taking the door off the hinges and putting up that panda film and cutting a 6in hole in the top for the ducting and using velcro along the door frame to act as a makeshift door for access. My goal is to be able to use my co2 tank in the room without having to worry about the heat buildup of a 1000w. Anyone have any suggestions or alternatives to the panda film, as im not sure even that would work. Thanks.

try to put a vent on the door directing the air flow towrds the floor with maybe some cooker material to reduce any light that leaks out.

This seems to be a common problem, one option could be venting through the ceiling (depending on whats up there). If it is a situation where you cant cut the door I have seen people find a cheap used door that they can easily cut a hole into then replace the old door when needed.

If it's a standard door, you can only buy or find yourself a cheaper "temporary" one that you can make some holes to suit your needs.
I did this on my first grow project.
I was living in an old apartment with a basement that was filled with odd junk.
I found an old door and began my mods....

The only problem with cutting holes in doors is running into the larger structural/supportive pieces of wood on the inside. I don't know if those stud-finding devices would work, but you could give that a shot before you start any cutting.

I made my cut pretty much dead center on the door, and covered it up with a steel grate. Because heat rises, I had my filter and fan suspended from the ceiling using bicycle hanging hooks, running duct to the hole in the door.
Luckily I had an island kitchen cutting board unit that went right in from of the door, completely covering the exhaust grate.

Just some ideas.
Hope you work it out,
JC

I had a similiar issue.

I went about it as such.

My room is not sealed, it is passive intake/active exhaust. Purchased a door from teh home depot for 30$.
Cord runs under and up through the door... It runs vertically enough up the door to not interfere with the framing I made for the weather stripping.

Framing for the weather stripping

First jigged out a 2x1 hole through the door. I purchased a 2x1 dark room louver and mounted it on plywood. I just jigged out a 2x1 foot whole out of scrap plywood and screwed it in.

Glued the plywood flush onto the door and let the inside of the louver stick into the 2x1 hole.

Inserted a cheap standard 2x1 AC filter.

Screwed on a 2x1 AC vent cover from the Home Depot onto the outside door.

A picture is worth a thousand words :)
I wish I could take pictures and post them so I don't have to take forever to explain myself.
