ideas for smoke room

alright guys, i've got an extra room (about 12' x 13') and want to turn it into a smoke room (so my friends and I don't have smoke in my main room around all my electronics)

of course I'll have some cool decorations, but nothing over the top and a small stereo setup to listen to some cool music while we're in there, and there's gonna be a coffee table in the middle for rolling/pieces and well...setting stuff on

my main question is what I should do about seating - yeah I know its not really that big of a deal. I'm debating between a bunch of bean bag chairs and floor pillows (ie on floor seating) or just a few couches. so what do yall think would be comfortable/inviting/fun in a room that is just for smokin/chillin? a bunch of floor seating or couches?

hhmm I'm trying to think what could be worse, a knee bumping a table and knocking over a piece of someone's loose legs....

Yea I would say table, also try to get a ceiling mirror, I think that could be pretty sweet. Put some lava lamps around the room too in like the corners or something *all same color or contrasting*

Also a big rug under the table would look good too.

awwwww man.. seating is the most important thing. i say, get two of the L-shaped sofa couches and create a sort of enclosed seating section. table in the center with draws where all the weed, or good stock pile, would be. make sure to leave enough room between the table and sofa so ya old lady can sit on the floor between ya legs and still have some comfort. shelf somewhere to keep the wares! maybe a bar or pool table or both. im not good with dimensions unless it's on paper lol. you gotta put a sick geometric pattern on the walls, allllll the way around. would be killer! or maybe some hot chick murals.

of course two TVs and a stereo system lol.

damn that pic is trippy as hell :kewlpics:

i think I'm just gonna go with couches, for a second there I thought the floor seating would be cool, but I think it would probably get uncomfortable (no back support) after a while

when I get the whole room setup the way I like it I'll take some pics of the "christening"

smoking room huh? that basically define my bedroom lol but I get what you're saying. Would be nice to have a room to just chill out and smoke bud in all by itself.

I've always wanted a smoking room and intend to have one at some point. Here's what I've always envisioned as the perfect smoking room (keep in mind, this is NOT cheap, but with some modifications it could be done for relatively cheap):

Floors: lots of Persian/oriental rugs cover the whole floor, with a variety of colors, styles, and sizes, with no real organization.

Walls: Loose red velvet on every wall.

Ceiling: A dark paint, maybe slightly loose red/black velvet.

Lighting: Very very low lighting, probably from low-light lamps mounted on the walls, movie-theater style.

Seating: I would want a huge amount of comfy couches, ottomans, chaise lounges and love seats. Pillows would be everywhere on both the furniture and on the floor, with a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors.

Furniture: There would be a couple small end tables between some of the couches to place things like food and drink on. There would be a small mini fridge (painted black or covered in velvet to conceal it) for food and drinks. There would be a small trash can hidden to help keep the place clean. The centerpiece of the room would be a large, low, circular coffee table, for everyone to sit around when smoking, That 70's Show-style.

Entertainment: 40"+ plasma HDTV, Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, media center PC with a terabyte of hard drive space, a nice home theater system, and wireless internet so that people can bring their laptops if they want. I would also have a variety of board games, since my friends and I like to play board games when we get baked from time to time.

So sort of like a modern opium den.

Mmmmmmmm....sexy. BRB, furious masturbation.

great ideas from everyone!

pixelante, that sounds like a really nice setup you've got in the planning, and similar to what I want to do with mine - I've already got a good coffee table for the center, and will place some couches and other seating in there around the table, some end tables with lamps etc

I've already got a very nice stereo/HT setup in the living room so I don' think I'll put any nice electronics in the smoke room - I've been an audiofile much longer than I've been a weed smoker so the thought of smoking around all my nice electronics bugs the crap out of me. So I'll probably just have a simple stereo setup, couple nice bookshelf speakers, integrated amp and probably a squeezebox for the source and keep the nice stuff away from the smoke

I liked the ceiling mirror idea, but also liked the dark paint idea - who knows. Either way I've got alot of new and good ideas now from yall

Hello all,

One addition to a smoking room I think is a must is an carbon air filter. I made one for my office that I have clients in and out during the course of a projects. It s nice to know that the room does not smell of buds.

Now, keep in mind, you may not care that the room will take on the smoke odor..but your gf or wife or landlord will.

It also keeps the odor from going further into the house.

Just my to duckets,

nice cigar ashtrays are definitely a must considering that we smoke alot of blunts around here too

I'm also planning on getting a nice Vap to leave in there and use that as much as possible for the benefit of everyone's lungs

the carbon filter is a good idea that I hadn't really thought about - I'm not really too concerned with the smell, but better safe than sorry right?

i would want a nice fat couch in there but i think you could dedicate a corner and then some to beanbags and pillows as an option. i would hang colored sheats from the ceilings give it an aladdin feel to it. I would want trinkets and world design.

peace

see I would prolly skip the carbon airscrubber and be hotboxing that bitch.

Also for a cieling I would probably try to get some large flourucents to cover as much of the cieling area as possible, cool white flouros, then cover the cieling in black canvas with some holes punched in it for a really cool starlight effect that in the smoke will be sending down many individual beams of light.
