contamination occurs during inoculation but couldnt it occur if not properly sterilized in a pc my idea is why not put the jars after they have been in the pc in the ideal temp of mc grouth before knocking them up to see if there are contaminations?
i wouild say because the contamination happens DURING the innoc. after they come out of the p.c. they are sterile.
you leave them out in any temp, ideal or not, and youre multiplying the risk of contamination.
i dont think theres to many reports of jars being contaminated right out the p.c...? could be wrong.
its best to inject within 48 hours because after pressure cooking. The jars pull in air when cooling thats why it best to let the jars cool in the pc, so hopefully they only draw in clean air. In the end the point is just to give the shrooms a head start so they can defend against any competitors.
My trick is to soak a piece of sponge in alcohol, then put that over your injection hole, flame your needle to red hot, then inject through the sponge and injection hole into your jar. I am well over 90% successful in open air with this method wearing glove and a flu mask. I used to use a glovebox but found it was way too much hassle and took up too much space to keep around.
