I don't know why but I was not allowed to post in the infirmary. Out of curiosity does anyone think these white splotches are Not powdery mildew? And an ID on that weird caccoon thing please if anyone cares to help.

Its a bit early for PM even in the Northeast no?

Its not pm. I see leaves curl up from spiders and their webs sometimes. They dont really harm the plant except 1 leaf. I leave them alone and let them decide if they want to stay after spraying them.

Have you sprayed them with anything recently? it looks like PM in color.. but it also looks like an accumulated substance that just rolled down the blade of the leaf.. usually PM shows up in blotches

Hmm yea it looks almost like a discharge or residue and its really only on a few spots, not really following the pattern I see in pics of PM.

I haven't sprayed anything on them at all.

One reason I fear PM is because its been very dry but when it does rain it can get cold and damp at night, and foggy in the morning. You can see I'm lolipopping them pretty good.

Thanks

Good deal. Ill take spiders any day and that's exactly my stance on spiders on my plants too, I grow in a cellar too, spiders welcome. :)

If it's only a couple of spots, I would spot spray with a fungicide.

However I am with most people here, does not look like PM.

First picture for sure was a spider, or worm cocoon.

Thanks guys I feel a bit better now. Any recommended fungicides? I've been thinking of spraying their stalks, branches and stems with Si and Ca to fortify against any future systemic infection as well as a high pH application of at least milk and baking soda when autumn hits.

Thanks again

Its possible but I haven't fed them much of anything out there except during transplant and once after. Other than a few dings those plants are pretty healthy. During transplant from coco pots dtw to outdoors the cations got messed and I let them go dry accidentally a few times. I'm more concerned with anything systemic like an infection or infestation.
Thanks man

Green cure is P bicarbonate. I recommend P hydroxide (KOH) as a cheap DIY version. I use it for pH so I have it here on hand. Theyre basically exactly the same in solution at pH 11. It's the pH that keeps the fungus at bay and a better option than adding more sodium.

*And to all who responded I need all the help I can get
So, its getting to be about that time where Ill have to start bracing against PM, if what's in those pics wasn't to begin with....... So far it hasn't spread or gotten worse, just still popping up in places....I sprayed a few spots with h2o2 and water but it didn't do much, faded a bit? I'm not out there a lot but I'm about to test a h202 solution pH to 9 using my pH up (potassium hydroxide)....

If I continue with this method, how much and how often do I need to do it? Should I be concerned mixing h202 and KOH?
should I be concerened with a high ec in the foliar? I think it takes a lot to get my water up past 9.....

Its overcast now and I have some time so I'm going to test my 4:1 h2o2 + water @ pH 9.5 ish

I have this on my ladies in the northeast as well :) It is from a bug of some sort, alien grasshopper??-- the bug is white in color, yet sorta translucent-- covers itself with foam like substance to protect from enemies, I suspect. this white stuff on the leaves is the dried foam. I will grab a pic if I see one again, but haven't in the last few trips to see the ladies.
good luck

Oooo thanks korngut!

Sounds like some kind of leafhopper, treehopper....I just looked some up and what I see a lot of is what's called the candy striped leafhopper. Very colorful. It eats holes in the leaf to get sap. Beautiful.
