You can't blame HT if someone sends in someone else's picture. That's just silly, they have no way of knowing. You can say what you want about High Times but it had it's time and place. I remember buying the second issue when it first came out. For you younger people, that was decades before the internet, back when the printed word was all we had. Like it or not, High Times did a lot of good in the early days of indoor cultivation.
The only villain in this is the asswipe who stole another person's picture and took credit for shit he did not do. He's probably not even a grower, just a lil high school punk wannabe who steals his weed from his big brothers sock drawer.

Damm, that suck Nate. I can't believe everybody trashing H.T. over it. I believe when notified of the prob. H.T. would want to straiten things up. Hell, it gives them one more thing to publish. But, Ive been studying H.T. dam near since it came out. HIGH TIMES is one of the reasons i'm here today. When I was a kid and saw the first pics of Beautiful killer fat ass nuggs..... IT STARTED MY DREAM. along w/ smoking it ofcorse. That dream I'm living today. It got me started on wanting to grow very early. For this I will ALWAYS LOVE HIGH TIMES. That dude Ben Jamin is a lame. High Times would not have published it if they knew it was already used... That's bad form, and taboo in the cannapublishing industry. I doubt they're very happy with the guy who said it WAS his pic, if it's not. HT was duped, like Nate was, only different. It's damn near impossible to tell if a pic belongs to the guy who presents it to them, that's why there are release contracts that are signed where the artist acknowledges that the image is his/her own work.

High Times flunky and corporate punk Danny Danko here. This was just brought to my attention and we're surely going to publish a correction. It's not our fault that someone sent in someone else's picture. As Rudedude and Composer said, we don't do that sort of thing. The blame falls onto the person who sent the photo. Are we expected to scour the internet to ensure that every photo comes from the person who took it? All we can do is put our trust in the sender. Several times people have sent photos that I recognize and they get called out on it but I haven't seen every picture ever published so it's a bit difficult to police that sort of thing. It's not good when this happens and we try to avoid it but it's not our fault by any means. The blame should fall solely on the idiot who sent someone else's picture as their own.

Once a photo is uploaded onto the site here, and it's resized during the upload, there is no going back to a higher resolution, except to ask the submitter for it.

We have had this problem with others doing various graphics jobs and we ALWAYS have to request the higher res pic via ftp, email attachment, or mailed in on a disc.

So to answer that babba, once a pic is uploaded into one's gallery here on the site and is automatically resized during that upload process, if it is copied, it will remain resized.

Pix of the Crop is a section of submitted reader photos so the print quality is almost always lower than our usual photo in an average article.

I will do my best to be more vigilant with questionable submissions but it's difficult to catch people with photos. Words in a article can be googled to catch plagiarists but it's harder with a pic. We'll publish a correction and I'd be happy to run one of Natefrog's photos as well if he's not too pissed of at us.

DD says readers pics are printed at lower resolution
although I can't attest to it as I do not subscribe to HT.

The low resolution pics can be reproduced effectively in print depending on the software & process used in creating the negatives.

I'd choose the second and third pics as well as the 3rd next to last one (fat bush).

I've had a whole article and pics used in a mag and never got a copy or a cent for it. Heard about it being published by a third party who saw it in a news stand. It was in a different country, so it was hard to even pursue. Publishing is shady, a small print correction in the next issue fixes any mistakes. Very lame, at least Danny D is being cool about it. I know he can do better to curb this type of thing Danny! Ask a few questions next time...
