I vegged 4 seeds for almost two months. Each was topped a week or so before flowering. In flower two were female. As instructed by Fet at Spice Bros. I let them go 56 days in flower. They grew well without any problems. I noted that each of the IP needed water more than the Grapefruit and Lieu Hanh growing with them. On a regular 3 day water cycle the IP was nearly dry at the end of day 2 and needed supplemental water. I had two phenos, one with darker coarser leaves looking a bit like C99 as I recall it and the other had lighter and finer textured leaves. There was virtually no smell during flowering. I yielded about 2.5 oz per plant, which disappointed me. I’m used to 4 oz from Grapefruit and other varieties. In fact I was about to throw the plants away for that reason until I seriously sampled the stuff.
Some context for the report: I’ve been growing for a couple of years in a small apartment. It’s been a challenge but I’ve developed a pretty good system. My first and only keeper to now has been Grapefruit and I’ve mainly been growing her clones along with some other varieties. I tried maybe 8 other varieties with no keepers. Meanwhile my tolerance for Grapefruit has been growing to the point I’m currently using more than twice the pot I used to use in my cooking recipes. So I’ve been looking for another keeper within the growing constraints of my cramped quarters.
I thought the IP I smoked as it was maturing was pretty damn good. I mainly cook with pot so I wouldn’t know for sure until I cooked with it. I air dried the buds for a week after harvest. Then I took a little over an ounce and dried it at 170 degrees until the remaining moisture was gone. I added 1.1 dry oz (the dosage I’m currently using with GF) to a spice cake mix.
I tried about ½ a piece of cake. This ½ piece contained about .5 g (1.1 oz (30g)/64 ½ pieces). I got so high. Too high. During the peak of the high for about 30 minutes I felt I just had to hold on and ride it out. I was also feeling something like a whitey coming on but was able to fight that off. After I came down a bit the high was very nice. Smaller doses produce very enjoyable but still strong effects. The funny thing about the high is that standing up and doing things is fine, but you don’t feel that you have to stand up. You could just as easily sit down. At the same time sitting down is great but you don’t feel glued to the couch. You could just as easily get up. At first I considered this a flaw thinking that the high maybe lacked character or distinctiveness. But I’ve come to appreciate this quality in that you’re free to do what you like in a high state, rather than feeling forced onto the couch or up on your feet in a bake and shake frenzy.
I have to take off some points for the fog factor. This stuff makes me a little more confused than I like. It’s not bad in this regard, just a little more than I like. It would be difficult to function in a straight setting if you were too high. With moderate doses this is not too bad a problem.
I’m giving Ice Princess an 8. On my scale 10 means the type of strain you can expect to come across only once or twice in a life time, 9 means a definite keeper, and 8 means good enough to keep it for another grow or two until a 9 comes along. The yields and the somewhat foggy high are keeping it from a 9. I’m revegging them both now and hope to grab some cuttings for one more grow.
