IC420 plea for assistance

Hello Dutchgrown/all.

The wife and I have made the decision to be in Amsterdam for this year's festivities. Not only will this be a trip to participate/observe (possibly judge?), this trip will also be a celebration of our union 25 years ago (together 26), and a friendship that dates back to 8th grade/1971. In addition, this will be my first trip abroad/to Europe. I'm stoked...and I *obviously* wanna get this right!

Previously, there has been mention of possible package deals, etc. Is there any further information available on this DG?

I don't want to appear antsy...though dammit, I am! ;-) This is gonna be fun!

We did some checking last night on accomodations, and a few of the places I've seen mentioned in posts here on IC are full/filling up. In addition, I see posts that give me enough concern about getting hassled in some hotels..etc. that I want to find "cannabis friendly" accomodations without a doubt. Obviously, having never been to A-Dam before...we don't want to wait too long to figure all of this out. (damn noobs!)

We're thinking "apartment" over hotel room at this point...and we'd like to be close to the action/the festivities at the Cup. Where/what general area will these activities take place?

Any info appreciated. I gotta pull this together! If you live in A'Dam and have some connections/know of someone who has nice digs for rent...please let me know! I'll definitely stone yer ass big-time/make it up to you when we hit town/during the week we're in town if you hook us up with someone you know who operates safe/cannabis friendly digs. Please PM me!

On top of that, I'd be forever grateful. This is a big deal...being 25 years and all...

thanks.

Well we need to see where the events will be held. Then you want a hotel within walking distance. Most upper crusty hotels won't let you smoke in them. A lot of 2 and three star hotels don't care a lick. You can spend 100 to 150 euro per day for something safe and clean. Two areas stand out near Dam Square, so you can walk to Gypsy's for the wake and bake. And possibly neer Leisplein if the event is held at the Melweg.(speculation). Most of the hotel reservation websites have a hotel finder by map feature, look at th hotels around those two areas. Good luck!!

Most excellent post/ideas  . Best of luck on gettn' a place at a fair rate. My buddies' workn' on a posssible package (air/hotel) that might just save our ass on the x-change rate....not sure yet though as i want to rent the house boat i've stayed on before & there sure ain't no package deal for that....if i can even get it(or any houseboat this yr.). Best of luck all...till then it 's steady work for me :Bolt:

Hey 3 leg/all...

Been scopin a houseboat rental myself...but am unsure at this point as to what to do.

It appears that a person can easily walk just about anywhere in the 'Dam with ease.
It also appears that it's about a mile (they list 6000km) from Central Station to the Leisplain (i hope I spelled that correctly). Is this an easily do-able walk? Just making sure.

Yeah...accomodations seem to be at a premium...as are airfares this year...so it isn't gonna be a cheap endeavor for those of us headin over the pond.

Hopin for word on a package deal of some sort...but we'll figure it out one way or another just the same.

good luck all

durga - first of all, congrats on the qtr century of marriage, impressive in today's world. As for hotels, I liked the Victoria. Its right across from Central Station (which is nice cause all trains take you back there no matter where you are in Adam...as you could guess, this is a nice feature if you are smashed in another country and can't remember how the hell to get back to the hotel). Also, they are cool with smoking, I was kind of low key myself, but my nieghbors smoked out the whole floor on a daily basis.. :joint: also I felt safe there.. good luck bro and I'm sure you'll have a blast no matter where you stay...peace. :joint:

No doubt bikes are the way to go & most of the boats i have looked at over the years (for rent) are near the train station & i prefer to stay closer to Dam square (kinda central). Last time threre we stayed(in an apt.) on the amstel river right near (3min. walk) to the Dampkring where i spent most of my time.

I m kinda playn' it by ear right now, but w/in the next few months will have all arranged...well not me....im' way to busy for that...thank's to a few good :friends: (very tight circle here) we'll try for the best deal, but a boat is My 1st choice & i think i have 34% on this decision..lol.. Take care all & again best of luck finding the right spot & look forward to meeting so many with the same 'passion for the plant' as me. Peace 3ld :joint:
