IC Mag grower security! GOOGLE

I have noticed over some time now that this site ranks very highly in google searches for marijuana related things. I for one am concerned that anyone out there can do a simple google search and come across all of our stuff on this site. Try it out, type your thread name or even a strain name or anything into google and it often links directly to ic. Yes this is cool, more traffic, but it might not be the right traffic. I don't like the fact that probably what I am typing right now is going to be embedded into googles search engine. Friends/family or Leo can gather info on someone really easily this way. Maybe it isn't a big deal to most but It kind of bugs me. Talk to someone you know about a strain you grew and all they have to do is search it into google and find your whole grow project....

Anybody else notice this or not like this?

It is the nature of the Beast (Internet)
NOTHING you do on the internet is truly private--
They can grab your IP, and be at your house before you log-out--
We (I) do this knowing that there are milliions of ppl doing it...and they can't get us all--
If you do not want any chance of anyone finding you out...don't post it on the internet!! Or at least if you do, don't be fooled...you may get caught--

Did you honestly think there is a law enforcment agency in the world that doesn't know about this site? Unless your using your real name there isn't anything to worry about. The only way to be 100 percent safe is to not grow. And that wouldn't be any fun now would it?

With that Google info in mind, be sure to use a unique screen name that is exclusively for Cannabis sites. Using one's screen name for Cannabis sites and perhaps a fishing forum can lead to some uncomfortable cross referencing.

1. Create a unique username for this forum, so you can't be linked to any other sites.
2. Don't post identifying information, anything more than you're comfortable with. I don't mind saying the region I'm from, but I won't be giving the exact town.
3. Understand that if you put something on the internet, people can and will find it.

As long as you understand that there is nothing anyone can do about it, and post knowing that EVERYONE WILL SEE IT, you'll be okay..

What's not to notice? This is a public forum just like any other public forum. Anything you post here at this public forum ... becomes available to the public.
This site like virtually all other forum websites offers virtually no security over the data you send, it's up to you to provide that security - ie. don't post photos that reveal personal data about you, don't use your real name, etc etc.

besides, i dont actually grow cannabis. i just wanted to look cool.

People post pics here all the time,you'll be told its safe.You'll be told the server is in another country and unavailable to US authorities.What you won't be told is things change drastically and quickly in this game,The Feds werent in Cali a couple months ago either..I've been six years on the forums and have never posted a pic,I suggest you think carefully if you are an american posting felonius escapades online...

I was surprised for years that when I googled myself(real name) nothing would come up, but lately I have been getting some stuff. I competed in a national competetion, for something and because I placed I was then added to a website that google then found

I see it more as a surprise play in the same ballgame,it's intention being an analogy to how fast things can and do change.Whats safe today may not be safe tomorrow and pics are something I've never felt personally safe about.There is a huge difference between posting pics of a few sick plants asking for help and having a multi-dozen growshow.I'm not trying to unnecessarily alarm anyone and honestly don't know how I got on this subject in the first place lol.It's not bad policy to have many things that you just won't do when growing,these will be different from individual to individual.Posting pics is one of mine..Shit man it seems I'll sit here indefinately posting away to get out of painting this dining room today,I want to apologize in advance lol
