This morning I came home to find my door wide open, and the door window broken. Before I even went in I knew what happened.

They were nice enough not to trash my place, but were not nice enough to leave my TV and 360, and as a poor side victim(although I doubt they came for my single little sapling, nor did anyone know about it) was my box.

They took my one seedling, 2 and a half weeks old, container and all, the night before I was going to post the start of my grow log, which is just some bad luck, and it was day 1 after I started my hand at LST, which seemed to go well, which I am glad about, and was easier and not as scary as I thought.

They also took the CFLs (No biggy, but why? And left the 2 boxes of CFLs beside the cab ), my fan(4 dollars at the dollar store! C'mon), a pair of scissors, a few small un-opened sample bottles of nutes, and my pack of seed

They did leave the cab, which was small, and in tact. So at least I don't have to replace that. Getting a new door, solid no windows as well, with some added lockage for security.

Shitty luck. Once I get some new seed ( also trying to convince a friend to send me a cutting currently, so fingers crossed there), and get it going, I'll start up my grow log.

Thanks to everyone who answered questions about my first young plant, I am sure there will be more from me with the next!

Yeah, I assume they came for the electronics in the household, which, as a gamer are many, or it was random. It better not be someone I know.

It won't be grown here again. I have a location about 20 minutes away from my home that I will use, was going to use it originally as it is out of the way, and secure, but figured, it was just one little plant.

Just gotta get the supplies back in order, I wonder if FF would send me more samples if I told them my last batch were stolen HAHA.

Secure the place, or better still, move, and start over again with a new seedling.

Yeah move it for sure, I don't need to become someone else's perpetual grow, you know.

This might make me budge and spend the money to move up to a big light, and a few more plants. We'll have to see what supply cost is looking like.

Under the rage, there's a little bit of excitement in the prospect of stepping up the size, even to just a few ladies, but as I said, we will see how much work needs to be done, and the cost.

I bet, if I didn't smoke weed, I'd be a hell of alot madder right now.

Hope you have homeowner's insurance. If not, grow or not, I'd be considering a move.

Yeah, I had to have them(FF) send them to my cousin who lives just over the border in Buffalo, as they don't sell, and cannot thus send samples to Canada.

My friend has also received samples from other companies. I just went to the Fox Farms site, went to contact us, and contacted them with a letter. I'll post it below.

"Hello, a friend recently mentioned your products in passing, we both grow Cucumbers and Tomatoes outdoors, and I usually start my cucumbers indoors (In soil) several weeks before moving them outside to give them a head start.I am currently using a Botanica treatment, but have found that using them after moving outdoors I see little yield increase when compared to big box store treatments(Like miracle grow), or just rain water. My friend states that he has had a dramatic increase in yields since using your products, notably in his heirloom tomatoes, which quite frankly, were humongous last season.

I was wondering before making the switch completely, if you had any samples available to allow me to compare the results compared to the Organica treatment I am currently using, to see which product is the right fit.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated."

And I got this response hours later.
"Because we do not distribute in Canada, and we do not hold the rights to sell in Canada, I cannot send you any samples. I apologize for the red tape, and wish that I could, because I’m sure you would like the results! Thanks for your interest in Foxfarm, and good luck!"

I also sent a letter to Botanicare, very similar, and got this response

"Thank you for your interest in Botanicare’s premium, hydroponic gardening products and your recent sample request. To get a better understanding of what the best Botanicare nutrient for you to trial is please follow the below link and complete a short survey about your growing needs. Once we receive the results we will send* you out either your requested sample or a nutrient line that we believe will work best for you. "

And they provide a link. *4-6 weeks to arrive.

If you are going to do this, change the letter a lot, they notice things like a flood of similar emails. It nice if you are a new grower, or can't afford nutes, but like everything, if abused, could go away.

Perhaps a small silver lining, sharing the gift of free samples Now I want to change the thread title to "I got robbed, and how to get free nute samples"

Just in case you were wondering, I received big bloom, and grow big from FF. Enough to get my single or probably 2 plants through an entire grow.

Sorry to hear you got robbed man, thats an awful feeling to be sure. For those that rent, please call your car insurance company and ask about renters insurance. iIt costs me like $10 a month to insure $40K worth of my belongings, and it actually made my car insurance cheaper by $15 a month! That's right, it's like they PAY you to get renters insurance!
