my idea is to create some sort of microscopic panel that slides in where the square piece of glass slides onto the reflector... my questions are, has anyone ever tried amplifying light with a microscope lens? i would like to get a square piece that amplifys say 2x... do you think the lumens will increase along 4x4 primary blue print or is it only going to amplify towards one point? ive never really studied microscopes and how they work exactly. any thoughts would be great, thanks.

Why not just place the light 2x closer? Id be worried about this burning the plants. I was thinking it would be cool if they could make like an array of psuedo lasers tho that "focused" light straight down, doubt its possible yet ( at least in our spectrum )

I hear them LEDS are coming up but im not sure about them just yet........ and i dont think its possible to get more lumens out from amping it. who knows give it a try!

Yeah lenses can magnify (make smaller more intense light pattern) diffuse, or color shift light, but not actually amplify overall lumens. Run air cooled hoods and you can STILL bleach the tops of plants, I think you're setting yourself up for hot spots and torched plants!

this will burn your plants, it will be just like holding a magnifying glass above ants.. They do make higher wattage light systems but these are not ideal for growing. I am sure some one has done all the research, and I know i am not qualified.
