I want to harvest one pound...

I'm planning a springtime outdoor AF grow. I was thinking of running sour60 though open to other suggestions. I will plant mid-may straight into ground from peat pucks.

I want to yield one pound of weed. How many seeds should I buy to start?

This will be my first run w/ AF cannabis, but not my first grow.

Thanks friends!

Hard to say really..

I try to expect 10g from an AF outdoors, and everything else is a bonus, ofcourse they will yield more, but then you have to take in mind that some shit is gonna happen, you lose some... weather, animals & mold? and stuff like that

Don't know where abouts u are but, for me in this climate it's like that,

It's gonna be expensive to buy all those af's, maybe you should do a seedrun indoors if you have the space for it?

Have to agree with Sandnut. Where I'm from, it's generally accepted for every 3 gardens you plant, you'll end up harvesting 1. Gotta plant one for the thieves and pigs, one for the animals/mold, and 1 you get to keep. Now I don't know what area you're in, and I don't know what it would be like there anyway, but that's how it worked in my hometown. I wish you the best of luck! Stay safe!

Heres' the math for you....

Let's say you can get 14 g/af. That means it will take around 32 plants to make the lb. However, in order to procure 32 female plants you will prolly need around 64 seeds that sprout and reach maturity. So, unless you are expecting a germ rate of 100%, 70-75 quality seeds might be the number...

Yeah that ^^ (hippydan)

My first outdoor grow i had 300 non autos (very early finishing strain) in one spot only.

Guess what, after sexing an other shit, i had 120 females left, and they were found by leo 3 weeks before harvest... learn a lesson from my mistake, and spread out your shit!

I only had 1 spot, woah, no harvest that summer! :)

3 smaller spots... or more, you have to expect shit to happen, you'll be way better off prepared like that.. kinda off-topic, just tips man..

try to count for example... 100 seeds... 85-90germs... 40-45 females... 30-35 will make it
so outta 100 seeds you got 30%
depending on your circumstances where u grow... maybe even more parallels affect

quick maths with maxi gom :) all seeds are feminized so you dont have to worry about males and 3 oz minimum yield, i know cause ive done it

so thats 5 seeds needed although round it up to 10 just to be greedy ;)

This one fellow in the thread where Rez asked to be sold on AF said he plants 80 seeds in a big Rubbermaide tub. After sorting out the losers and males he gets about (30) 18" plants that makes 20 ounces of bud. He can do a spring and fall harvest.

I never grew AF before but the buds are smaller right? I can't imagine how long it would take to trim a pound of AF.

From what I am seeing, the thing to do with AF is just let them open pollinate first batch. It will take three months, but you have some seeds. Currently seedbay you have 12 packs of AF seeds going for $50. If you were to buy enough seeds for what I talked about above you would have to buy 7 packs of seeds for $350. I do not know how many seeds you get from a seed run of a single pack, so subsequent seed runs every other harvest or so. Seeded weed is okay and especially if you prefer hash (as I do).

Thanks for the quick replies friends!

I can only grow outdoor now, so an indoor seed run is not possible. I have experience growing outdoors, and learned the hard way two summers ago "dont put all your plants at one plot". I was planning on running three seperate small plots, one of these plots I'll do an outdoor seed run.

I was really hoping to yeild around 2 oz per plant, maybe sour60 isnt the best choice?

mi5 works very well outdoors, you should hit your target no problem with a 10 pack

Ill have to agree with smokey.. unless you grow the bigger autos,(super autos, Iranian autoflower, Possibly sour60, mi5, ak47, onyx) or can put them right in direct sunlight, they typically dont yield as much.. But everyone in here has you covered...

P.s. I would start 100 Sour60s

Gonna be wild seeing how many phenos you get out of 50+ females!! LMAO:laughing:

unless you can grow in your backyard growing auto's geuerilla style is very hard.

Can I hear your reasoning on that one?

To me autos are revolutionizing the guerrilla growing. You can hide them under someones nose. The low profile makes them blend in.
Also where I am from they only fly looking for patches in the fall. The autos come down before they even start to think about looking. The hunters as well....I can plant after the season goes out and harvest before the nest comes back in.

On a side note in the US it is not good idea to grow on your own land. They can seize your house and property in some cases not to mention the criminal charges. The risk outweighs the convenience.

Thanks figment, that is exactly why I want to start growing autos and other early finishers. I am strictly a guerilla grower now myself.

Last season I had a HUGE security scare that brought police to within 10 feet of 30 seedlings I had growing hidden amongst the flowers and veggies in my garden at my house when I wasn't home. Of course I moved them out that night. But the very next day police were sitting on my sofa questioning my wife and kid (about the other incident not the mj)in my living room, while in the basement right underneath them I had other seedlings growing under a 400watt MH

Cops arent welcome when I'm home, but... I'm not always home so I'm not growing weed at my crib anymore...

Figment,

You are dead on about these revolutionizing the guerilla grow. Where I'm at hunters are much more of a threat as far as plant loss. Damn few of them will leave someone's plants alone - odds are they'll either be rippers or snitchers.

In my area the deer season starts October 1 for bowhunters and I want my plants gone before they start scouting locations in early September. Believe me, bowhunters are people you want to watch out for.

We should also emulate hunters: Be quiet from the moment you set out for your garden. Be aware of your surroundings. Stop often to listen - rely on your ears as much as your eyes. Dress to match the habitat and always have escape routes and hiding places in mind.

When I venture out I go as a hunter as much as a gardener -- I've done both most of my 50+ years.
