hey guys im planning my next grow and i want to join the light side, the organic side. there does however seem to be a shortage of guides and stickys on the subject. let me tell u my setup, ill be growing in a grow cab 3 chambers one for mothers one for clones and one for flowering. the first grow will be from seed and i will only veg for a week or so. the best plant will be reveged cloned and the best clone will grow to be the mother of a new generation. i have a grow going at the moment (a few more weeks to flower) and i will do the same thing, pick the best plant and keep it as a mother so i will have two mothers after this next row from seed.

anyway my understanding of organic soil growing is us use a organic branded soil and the use organic teas to fertilize? im really lost on this. since on my first grow with the new cab i will be vegging for a week and flowering afterwards i will probably need a organic soil mix for the veg and another one after transplant for flower right? dammit im just confused, i want to be good to my plants give the nice whole natural food. but dont kno wut to do. please help if not for me for my plants :frown:

thats all good information and ive read alot about organic nutrients but what im confused about is how to put it all together into a regiment. with chemical growing u just put the seed in some soil and give it two different ferts one in veg one in flower.

Plants need 3 things to succeed (Im getting really basic here): Light, Soil, Water. Light you have covered (I assume), water should be filtered, and soil seems to be the question. The link posted above contains a great soilless mix on the front page (From Suby). Can you get Fox farm soil products? These are great soils to start with. Try 1/3 FFOF, 1/3 Promix, and 1/3 compost with enough perlite to loosen it. Are these measurements too vague? What confuses you about soil? I use the same soil for bloom and veg. Dont worry about tailoring two seperate soil mixes, rather aim for a balanced general soil and then supplement with solubles as needed. Cant get FF products? Try any organic potting soil, just check the ingredient list. It should say "Contains: Forest humus, composted wood fiber/bark", this is the best base to start with. Mix soil in large rubbermaid containers for ease of use. I just pour the soil from one container to another to mix well. Water the soil lightly, but thoroughly, and let it sit for at least 2 weeks after mixing; it should feel cool to the touch.

Build from your own experience. What products did you use and how? Were you rockwool hydro with AH 2 part ferts? Try a soilless medium like Suby's (Promix, perlite, EWC) and use a 2 part liquid fertilizer (Fox Farm, Age Old Organics). Keep it simple, and use what you already know. This will help minimize the growing pains associated with any transition in methodology. Hope that helps.

you can grow oragnically!!!

you can grow oragnically!!!

growing organically is about using materials in their natural state ( no synthetic chemicals allowed!)

and tying into biologically driven cycles to do the work for you

I like the term "biointensive" instead of "organic" but no biggie.

current grow mix:

"pro-mix" or "sunshine all purpose" potting soil with 40% large perlite

fertilizer per gallon soil..
1 TBL kelp meal
2 TBL alfalfa meal
2 TBL bone meal
at a little epsom salt tea once a month
(sorry for the yankee measurments)

this mix can be recylced 4 times

best of luck!

GROW IT, GROW IT, GROW IT, JUST GROW IT!!!

thanks for all your help.i was reading the best of high times master growers guide and there was a good article by a guy who did a closet grow organically. he used one bag of fox farm ocean forest potting soil 1-1 1/2 cup of fine powdered dolomite lime (for pH buffering) and 10 cups of pure worm casting. this is for vegging. when he transplanted he used plant success mycorrhizae Innoculant. for flowering he used the same vegging formula plus 1 or 2 table spoons of high-phosphorus bat guano to the bottom half of the new container. he also used the metanaturals line of organic ferts. i will probably copy this and stay away for the teas and such for now as im going for implicity. this is only my second grow. my first grow i used miracle grow (i know im sorry) and the only fert i used was doing flowering. ill bre growin at over 100 watts per square foot in a sea of green type setup in a grow closet so hopefully i will get really good donkey dicks. thanks again for all your help guys. feel free to comment on my plans.
