i think i have a great way to mail things

howdy.

a wanted to share something with a friend in another country. i'm very paranoid and didn't like the usual way. sitting around high one day i was staring at a vhs tape. i took it apart. IT'S freaking perfect. i taped some tomatoe seeds under the tape heads, a lot of them, put it back together. no damage. i feel safer going to the post office this way. i actually had a lady friend do it but still. lol.

what do you think? if it's a new method, i want it called the fatboy way! i'll patent the idea and make a fortune. MUAHAHAHAHA!!

god i love wake and bakes. :)

Nice idea :rasta:

Only downside is the cost of the VHS tape, but hell seed banks should be rich anyways they can afford some blank VHS Tapes^^

it's even worse than the cost of the tape. it was a treasured movie. i put it in the original package and mailed it away. these things have 7 screws, who would go through the hassel of looking? they don't rattle around or anything. i wondered if the tape glue may "leak" somehow into the seeds but i'll know when i hear the germination rate.

i don't believe it will be a problem. the fatboy way, yeah, i like that. :)

I didn't invent it? bummer! lol.

it was a very old movie. a classic. i figured it would make sense to send something like that. i wasn't considering it for a place like seed bay, just me and the folks.

man i love saturdays. :)

May be a good idea -- but

May be a good idea -- but

I think there is one risk of this approach. They might think the tape would hold porn. In the "old days" I had Laser Discs. Yep, those great big shiny things. I ordered a laser disk from a distributor in Canada. It was called "A Video Standard". It was literally a disk to calibrate your audio and video system. Believe it or not, I got a letter from customs saying it was being held until it could be shown it was not pornographic! A frigging disk of color bars and surround sound bleeps!

I responded and complained and a couple weeks later my laserdisc arrived. Unfortunately, it didn't "get me off" :)

Now that was about 15 years ago, but its one of my experiences that has made me reluctant to order seeds. Porn is less of a deal now, but if they thought it might be kiddie porn ...

But given the problems of late (read postings on some forums that confiscated orders may be on the increase in the US), seems like there could be a business for some enterprising third party in the UK or Canada to package orders to the stealth specifications of the buyer. Taping seeds inside of electronics would seem to be pretty good, DVD players, old laptops, etc. Mail something to the "repackager" with instructions, and let them do it to your specs. But there would be yet another person who would need to be trusted not to rip you off, it would cost alot, and I notice that many of the folks on this forum don't seem to have tons of extra cash, cause if you had extra cash, you'd spend it on weed of course! As an older toker, I am one who has more cash than weed -- unfortunately. In fact, my last hookup was from one of my kids in college, who, alas has graduated and is doing some volunteer work in another country. There is nothing like toking with your adult kids. Quite the bond ...

i know for a fact that australia will go to the trouble of opening them up if the scan looks dodgy or anything at all arouses suspicion.... a lot of countries also use xray machines now....

good thing i wasn't sending to austrailia! :)

i'm a bit nervous and am hoping my friend lets me know as soon as they show up.

again, it is the original tape, with the label on and it's in the original box. not too suspicious. i tried to send it a christmas but my gf went twice and just didn't get to the counter before they closed.

later

Wouldn't there be too much packages to possibly scan them all?
I wouldn't know, not Australian nor customs but maybe you've got some more information?

Mail actually an expansive subject depending on details.....(small, domestic, international, large, etc, etc...) Lot of different aspects..(package profiling, different procedure with different carriers, etc.....) Small packages typically a piece of cake regardless...

Unless your stuff screams out LOOK INSIDE ME the odds are its going to go exactly where its supposed to. Theres so much mail there isnt time to screen even a small percentage of it.

.. The U.S. Postal Service is the largest mail delivery service in the world -- 46 percent of the world's cards and letters are delivered by the Postal Service. In fiscal 2001, the Postal Service delivered 207.5 billion pieces of mail to 136.7 million addresses ("delivery points"). If there are 305 delivery days per year, then the average address receives 4.944 pieces of mail per day.

Meeting profiling criteria is what screams "look inside"....

I just posted a link somewhere where a parcel interdiction involved 50 agents/local/fed/postmasters at a single facility at the same time....(with dogs onhand)...

The small stuff is as safe as you can get....the seizure/arrest numbers increase as package size increases, because those again work against criteria....(posted another link somewhere how a single post office in SW grabbed 4,000lbs of green in a 48hr period....)

It's not a single guy standing at the belt.... :smoke:....

Small stuff not fitting criteria's is as safe as you can get due to volume...

Just mail it USPS Express. The tight deadline (next day) doesnt allow for much inspecting of packages. Just make sure whatever you send is 100% sealed up so it doesnt reek of pot. I watched a documentary on American Airlines and they literally just throw all the packages into huge bags and throw them on a plane. No xrays or anything.

Incorrect. Express is actually high on the profiling list and one of the giveaways for a lot of seized packages....

More Express/overnight packages are grabbed than any other method...

People should also remember they are screened multiple times before they reach you....when dropped off, when being loaded, when being unloaded, when being loaded for delivery.....

(I've read quite a few cases where they were pulled within minutes of being dropped off........never even made it into the stream...

I worked for UPS and was always working side by side with customs. This was over ten years ago, but customs never watched any VHS tapes unless it was labeled with something that sounded pornagraphic. So if it is Walt Disney or something like that I am sure you would be fine. ANother thing that is big on EBay now is old video game cartriges. Atari, Nintendo ect. YOu could put seeds in those also very easily and send them as an auction win. Just a thought.

Source please. The documentary I watched was very clear that nothing is screened (other than just the actual act of picking up the box or whatever) from the Post Office onto the plane. They even made a point to highlight that due to the huge amount of packages its impossible to screen them and someone could possibly mail a bomb onto a plane. I would think the instances you are referring to would be plain stupidity like not sealing the package properly so the mailman smells it, not some high tech machine or a guy that pulls suspicious packages off.
