I need some hermie advice

Hey everyone. I'm at day 16 of flower on my very first grow. I've got a thread going in this forum already highlighting all the details and some pics. Anyways, here's the thing. I did a ton of research before I began, and I've learned a ton, and feel pretty confident about the knowledge I've picked up, but, I have one HUUUUGE weakness. Since this is my first grow, and since I started with some donated clones, I have never had to deal with sexing the plants. I didn't think it would be a huge deal, since I began with clones, they'd all be female anyway. However, I have been reading a ton of posts in the grower section, and every time I read about someone's plants going hermie on them, it gets me a little more scared. If my girls started to go hermie on me, I wouldn't even notice until it was too late. :yoinks: This has me freaked out. I know on OG in the FAQs they had some great pictures of males and females, and what to look for. If anyone has good pics showing the diff, please post them in this thread, or, if I did not search thoroughly enough through the forums here, and there is already a place for this, please direct me. Thanks
That takes care of the identifying problem. But my other issue is the hermie process to begin with. From what I have learned researching, the most common cause of hermies are light leaks, or darkness when the light should be on, or random light schedules that don't follow a definite pattern. Is this correct? Are most hermie problems triggered by lighting problems? If there are other types of stress that can cause a plant to herm, I would like to know what they are so I can cover my ass. As of now, my lights are on timers, so the light schedule is very meticulous. I also rigged up some canvas so that there is absolutely no light entering the room during the dark period. So as far as lights, I think I'm covered. Anything else I should be careful of to avoid hermies?

Thanks in advance for your help.

No light leaks, don't fluctuate the timing drasticly, keep the heat down and grow those bitches out. It's your first grow your gonna love it no matter what.Peace from down South.

Thanks arb!!! So you're saying high heat can be another cause for hermies? I'm definitely fine then. My temps range from 57 in dark to 78 with lights. Sweeeet!!

As long as it's not genetic then you should be fine. They look like bannanas when they start. You'll be fine, enjoy

I think you are too worried and need to chill out. Buy an Ed Rosenthal book.

Some plants take a lot of abuse, some don't...IMO, the ones that don't are prone to hermie(genetics)....When you have a plant like that, cull her....I've seen some people clone hermie prone girls and wonder why the plant done it again....LC

Yeah like lavender said, most plants (especially weed ;)) will take some abuse, some of them more than others, but the genetics determine how easily they'll herm.. of course if your growing from seeds that came from a hermie plant, the risk is even higher.. any form of stress can trigger a hermie condition, lighting can definately be one of them.. you need to make sure your plant has a stable growing environment and the rest is basically up to mother nature and a bit of luck
