I need a passive intake that filters dust

Hello, I am trying to build a cab, I need a passive intake that will filter dust. I was thinking about using PVC piping with a bend for the intake, is there some sort of filter I can get to put on them? It's a dusty/dirty area, I need to filter the intake for it.

Also, For a passive intake how big do you need it? I think the cab will be 6x3x5 (LxWxH), and be exhausted by 300-400 CFM's.

Just double up some cheese cloth or use some cut up pany hose, rubber band or tape it round the end of the pvc. For that size cab i would use like 4-6 holes, but it also depends what size pvc. Just my 2 cents heh

I use 3m Filtrete allergen filter sheeting over my passive intakes. I have to replace them every month or the intakes get clogged/ low airflow. Works good i like the fact that it blocks micro allergens and mold spores.

Those look really nice, what do you use for your passive intakes?

Go big or go home, get a hepa filter, you'll love it.

Well I saw some hepa filters for intake fans but it was over $100, more than i can spend on my intake filter. The Filtrete filters look great, I just need to find a way to apply it to a passive intake that'll be light tight? Any ideas how I should setup the passive intake?

Go buy a dark room vent. One the other side rig something up so that a hepa filter can sit flush and fliter incoming air. The replacement filters shouldn't be that much at a place like Home Depot. If you don't want to send the money on the vents then look around people have made a bunch of passive intakes out of bending pvc. I just wonder if the restricts the air to much.
