I keep losing lots of money!!!!

My seeds crack, go in grodan starter cubes in the dark until they sprout and then under lights. Every f'n time they die and don't grow. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!! I'm a noob and I just spent alot of money on my set up.(PICS) I don't know if I'm watering to much or what. When I pull the starter cube after they sprout out of the closet the cube is still pretty wet. Should I switch the sprout into another cube and spray with spray bottle or what? any advise is appreciated.

First of whats going on with ur cooltubes? are you pulling air from the room without a carbon scrubber? And the same time having a scrubber connected to a fan within the room? :p Or is the photo just a little sketchy?

Anyway a little more info is needed, but if you use both those light upon newly sprouted seeds its no wonder they die. Its like giving a baby a beer and a steak and expect it to be able to live of it.

Aside from that its impossible to tell, need more info!!

sorry thats the flowering room. I was just showing the set up I'm not going to be able to use if I cant get the seedling to grow. I'm using a drip system just like Mr. greens videos. My seeds crack and they sprout then they die soon after.

Sounds like you're pulling your sprouts from a very humid environment (needed to sprout) and then throwing them in a heated, dry, brightly lit environment all of a sudden.

Try 'hardening them off' by exposing them to dry air for a bit each day. A bit longer each day. This allows them to adapt their leaf structure to the lower humidity of being under the lights.

Also remember to keep the temps around 75F max for seedlings and the lights just close enough that the seedlings don't get really tall and skinny quickly. (Fluoros are great for this)

Edit: If you have any bagseed around I'd practice with that since it's (now) free.

Too wet...

Nice set up though, you're right, alot of money. My advice is don't go too wild as grow room equipment is (and must be) disposable- often quickly...

Moisten the starter cubes then squeeze them out. I rarely spray seedlings unless the cotyldons are sticking together with the seed coat or the seed coat membrane preventing the leaves from developing.

Get a CFL, maybe 4 row blue spectrum for seedling development and clones- it's light, relatively cheap, and you can stuff it back in the box when the need for stealth arises... Good recommendation practicing with bagseeds!

You'll get it down fast and that hut will be full in short order!

Dont worry dude, you will get it working sooner than later, just follow the steps of hardening as said. Tho i would probably just hang one of those lights far up and start the hardening process from there, and each day lowering it a little. And by that i mean far, "wtf they wont grow" high.

And another tip would be if you have the space to make some moms out of your plants.(clones etc) There is nothing like it when it comes to saving money :p

And btw for further diagnosis please give us: temprature of room and water, hps wattage, nutes, nutes strength in your res(ec), medium, ph of water, watering schedual, time of each watering schedual(how much etc) and any other fancy enviromental element that may intentionally or not affect the grow.

if your beginning, buy some canna soil, and canna nutes, hydro is not the best for beginners, no buffer as soil has buffer

take solo cups with holes in bottom, water soil, make little hole in soil, pop seed in, cover seed with soil like hald a finger nail length, water over the seed, leave alone till it pops, helps if you put the solo cups in a humidity dome.

once popped, do not feed for at least 1 1/2 weeks. by 2 weeks replant into 1 gallon pots, work your way up feeding, if you have an EC meter don't go above .8 EC and you should be fine, if need be up the nutes slowly

.............. read in the mean time as much as possible

If you use the lucas method with GH nutes, hydro is a lot easier to start with than soil. The FloraNova series of GH nutes has pH buffers that do away with continually adjusting pH or messing with your res.

Do the same research I did. Look at all of the people working with soil and look at all of the people working with Lucas formula and hydro. Tally up all the different types of problems that you can have and all the different difficulties in finding the solution.

Lucas and hydro wins hands down. Fewer problems and the ones that remain are easily fixed.

im a hydro guy...love it!!...but i pop my seeds in soil and then clone of them...have even been known to be real bad and wash all the soil of the roots and put them into my perlite hydro setup ..

try soil and see if your having the same probs...i suck at trying to grow from seed in rockwool too :D .HH. =]-~

I definitely keep my mums in soil. Very simple to manage in veg if you can find the right dirt in your area. :)

stop wasting your money on seeds until you learn how to start them...USE BAGSEED!!!!! u can't go wrong with free!

once you learn what you are doing wrong, then move on to some cheap seeds, then after you pull a couple of harvests move on to the name brand goodies...

i just started 40 seeds of federation CC 100% germ rate.

i start my seeds in tap water soaked paper towels btw 2 dinner plates, then move sprouts to 2" rockwool cubes soaked with dilute fertilizer. i like the 2" cubes because they are more forgiving than smaller ones, and they already have a hole to drop the seed into... after that i just spray lightly 2x a day with dilute fertilizer until they are ready to go... they are on a 24 hour cycle under floros until they get there 2nd or 3rd leaves.. they dont need much lite @ that point!

Along with the great advice above............Switch to Rapid Rooters. Rockwool sucks and will cause you problems for the entire grow.

Using rockwool is like using building insulation. Nothing beneficial for the plant what so ever and will never break down once discarded. I can't figure out while they still make that crap.

Go with modern technology. Go with Rapid Rooters !!

as long as your clone area has good drainage its hard to overwater your RW/rooters/whatever..no standing water is important..thats what gave me probs in the beginning.

Take that Resevoir out of the grow box, and spread out those pots more

put ur seed in a cup a water, put the seed tail down into soil, keep moist until it emerges.. place under light, only heat / overwater / dryness could kill it

Are you giving them any nutes?? If you are using ro water, then there is no food in there once they crack--

Mothers and clones are the way to go! ALthough i would love to get my hands on some seeds to grow some nice mothers with.

I had no problem sprouting seeds, i just used some plain ol water and a wet paper towel, threw them in some random soil and it still worked.

I only use clones now, havent touched seeds in a long time.

give your water a dash of something with nitrogen in it, like Micro. Florablend is good because its only 1% nitrogen so its a little milder.
