Hey everyone

I built another new pc this week, and part of the deal with my supplier, was that he would throw in a copy of Vista Ultimate

So far I like it, I like the desktop animations, the way everything responds. Most of reporting tools are nice, a very slick interface

I was wondering if any of you dudes, had any tips or thoughts on certain aspects of Vista that I have not either noticed or knew about.

I am not interested in Vista Bashing, if you have nothing good to say keep moving, as I did not start this thread as a Microsoft bashing thread, but as a place I can find out who uses it, and what you like about it

Thanks in advance

I liked Vista when I ran it,like you said graphically its cools as hell.I load a new OS at least once a month just for shits and giggles, presently back to Xp Ultimate. My only bitch was the stupid UAC....pop up every fricken second!!You can turn it off tho so thats an easy one.Server 2003 is the fastest one out there,at least for me,I may throw Vista X64 back on cuz that was fast too...oh tips...OK,turn UAC OFF!!!
And the Sidebar,tremendous resource hog..

Yeah that is rather annoying, but it has not gotten to the point where I want it off yet, has not even been 12 hours since I have installed it.

I am also running the Nvidia 8800 gts 640 mb gpu with it, sick card, really shows off the interface

I still use Vista for recording guitar because of random XP bugs. It's a lot better with more RAM - but I still get the blue screen of death at least a couple of times a week. I'd say it's still about 6months to 1 year away from being a reliable, stable operating system. And it hangs a lot.

i use it at work....

not a decent graphics card in that machine to have any of Vista's 'graphical extras' but it's been working fine for about a year now

Had some Steam issues but they've been resolved.... too bad all i can play is CS 1.6 hahaha

Vista is great..Very fast and My Processor 2.8Ghz Intel is a Dual-Core so it works 2 processors into one and boots up really Fast.I am too a new owner to a new machine with Vista Home Premium and its faster than my main machine with Home XP with a single core AMD XP2500 1.8Ghz

Got all the Bells and Whistles and the AREO GUI is cool !!! I heard that Vista is builded on a AppleOS,not sure which one...even got a dual-core gadget for the sidebar..they even make Quad-Core!!

Go rate your system....Go to the Control Panel and open SYSTEM and press the Windows Experience Index

My numbers are 4.9 for Graphics
and 5.3 for Gaming
average is 4.9 base score

I had 3.3 and 3.8 until I bought a noiseless graphic card with no fans...My New Computer uses 300 Watts so the card was perfect and increases my Graphic Score and I can use all of the added Gadgets on the Vista

Dog! thats a nice computer man, question does your card run SLI? im sure it does, think of doubling up the cards on that machine, it might warp space and time.

I run Vista at work. Compared to Windows 3.1-XP, I'd consider it the best improvement(not counting the introduction of Win95). Computer @ work is a 1.6 gh pentium(I think) with 2gb ddr2 ram. Runs nice...alot faster that I thought it would. I do like the idea of the "desklets"(or whatever they call them on Windows). I'll still run Linux/BSD at home, but Vista made a good impression on me.

yeah i saw a massive decrease in gaming performance when I switched to Vista so i reinstalled XP, running my 3 Ghz c2d cpu, nvidia 8800gtx gpu and 2gb patriot extreme 800mhz ddr2 memory. Right now DX10 just ain't worth it IMO.
