I have no insects

Basically I have no bugs, never have. I keep reading posts on here about insect problems, mainly mites. Is there anyone else out there, who does not ever see an insect on there crops? My grow is in my house, which sad to say, has it's share of bugs. Before you think I have a dirty house, no. I live in a country setting, in a cottage, my room is a portion of the sunroom, uninsulated, and all the fun that comes with that. I do get alot of spiders and lady bugs. Is this helping? I am not complaining. Just curious.

I can go many crops without getting them but sooner or later you will get them. Knowing when they travel is the time to look for them [ when the temps go from day warm to cold overnight. ] Mites only need to feel the warm draft coming out of a house and follow it back in to get where its warm in the garden.

We ALL will have mites? My buddy told me that and I didnt believe him. Maybe I well buy some praying mantis or lady bugs when that happens

I had Mite problems on my first grow. Since then i'v grown more than enough MJ, but never have had them again. Mainly it's down to high temperature, high humidity, maybe also bad ventilation. But for sure, you have bigger spider and beautiful lady bugs, you won't have much of a problem.

I think whether you get pests has alot to do with were you live. I used to live in a community with a HUGE per capita growing population and mites and powdery mildew where absolutely rampant. Things would literally get spread by normal social interaction. Slap the wrong guy on the back at a party and boom, you got bugs. Of course there was a huge clone market as well so bringing in outside clones was also a sure fire way to invite in the nasties. Now that I live in a community with a very small growing population I've had no problems. As long as you propagate your own clones and don't hang out with too many other growers you should be fine. Or a least disinfect yourself after socializing. Those growers sure can be dirty folks!!!!

Go to home dep[ot or lowes and get a hot shot or spectracide no pest strip,if you grow you will get spidermites. The key is catching them before they do damage. You wont see spidermites, but as soon as you see tiny yellow/whitish dots on your leaves hang the NPS for 48-72 hours. The key is getting rid of the infestation before they suck all the chlorophyll from the leaves.Once you recognise mite damage, you'll be able to respond before any damage gets done.Another words, its going to be a part of growing but nothing that will have a negative impact so long as you learn to react early, and use the right chemical.EDIT If you see webbing on your plants, you didn't listen to a word I said lol, literally too late..

I do see webs on my plants now and then, but I know it is from the spiders that have made the box their home. I try not to disturb them, I don't have any issues with spiders, I think they are cool and will transplant large ones around the house, outside instead of doing what my gf likes to do......squish them into the wall.

I suspect the area I live in has a rather large growing population. I have been in a few houses. ( I work as a call out service tech) that you can tell from the sounds and smells that they have an indoor garden, a padlocked room inside the house is a dead giveaway. But I have yet to encounter any bugs anywhere.

My good friend has a 365 grow going, the only thing he sees is a few gnats now and then, they don't cause issues to mature plants.

I would be interested in hearing from other Southern Ontario, Western New York growers and their experiences.

Remember you wont just "see" mites, and they are by far the most common indoor cannabis pest.I've never even seen a thrip or whitefly much less a fungus gnat, but I can spot the beginnings of a mite infestation by the 4th or 5th dot normally. Then you check the underside of that leaf along the main vein for the presence of eggs,at this point you'll have very few mites running around. Then hang the strip for 48 hours, remove, and rehang 24 hours later for 24 hours.
