I just started using hygrozyme and the root growth is crazy!!!! I did notice my rez starting to smell like an old fish tank after using this stuff. also stuff growing on the sides of rez. Any one know if this is from hygrozyme?
I am setting up a new 4x4 tray bedded with Hydroton. I am getting ready to plant my clones in the bed and have been running my 40gal res with de-chlorinated water + Hygrozyme. After one day, the res smells a little off like JimJay has noted.

Is this normal?!?

i used this cheap ass pond bacteria/enzyme mix called strata organic digester
it cleared up my res nicely and brought my rotted root systems back to life
all natural and made in us (for the fellow americans =) - bush is new world order not american)

Enzymes:
* Protease: Digestion of protein
* Amylase: Digestion of starch
* Cellulase: Digestion of cellulosic particles (plants)
* Lipase: Digestion of fat
* Pectinase: Digestion of fruit containing waste
* Beta-Glucanase: Digestion of vegetable gums
* Hemicellulase: Digestion of plant polysaccharides and other gums

Beneficial Bacteria:
* Bacillus Subtilis
* Bacillus Thuringiensis
* Lactobacillus Bifidobacterium
* Bacteriodes Succinogens
* Bacteriodes Ruminicola
* Ruminococcus Albus
* Nitrobacter-Liquid (Ammonia digesters)
* Nitrosomonas-Liquid (Ammonia digesters)

hope it keeps working, a years supply is $20 (cause of 1 year shelf life)

There has also been mention of an all natural pond product called microbe-lift PL that is supposed to be pretty good.

Should i be using hygrozyme with every watering for optimal results. It sounds as if this stuff is natural steroids for my ladies :rasta:

I HAVE A BOTTLE OF HYGROZYME, AND MY PLANTS ARE IN 14DAYS VEG.

WOULD IT BE OK IF I ADDED TO MY RES. AT THIS TIME IN VEG?

Yep, you can add it pretty much anytime during growth cycle. It's wise to scale back toward the end of flower though.

I still use it but in lighter doses (hydro - 3ml/gal max) than I used to. It does work especially for higher temp water, along side a good beneficial bacteria supplement. I am more careful about using it because it can trigger bad algae blooms in certain situations (if your tap water has algae spores in it).

Hygrozyme kicks ass in soil applications as well...you get these big huge fuzzy super white roots....compared to those stringy thin weak brownish roots you get when you don't use this product.

I have switched between hygrozyme and sensizym the last 3+ years. I liked the szym better in DWC and prefer the hygrozyme in (reused) coco.

If my memory serves me:joint: (and it doesnt always), i liked the way the sensizym made the roots look in DWC.

I run perpetual, recycled coco. Id like to believe ive got a nice herd of beneficials/tricodermas , and the hzyme doesnt seem to affect them at all.

I thought the szym was keeping my pH @ 5.65-5.7, not a terrible thing, but i like bouncing my pH gradually from 5.7-6.05.

I cant tell when im using the enyzme, but i can sure tell when i dont use them for 4-6 weeks and then start again (hzyme observation).
My next purchase will be hygrozyme.

bron2k,
Check the Strange Slime sticky in the Infirmary. Hygrozyme will make brown slime algae go into overdrive if you're not careful with it.

This shite is not f'in suitable for D.W.C believe me, it nearly fuc'ed up my mates grow recently (you know who you are d). Brown algae bloomed in his res a brown slime all over his roots, he rinsed and applied a strong dose of h2o2(thanks to my advise) at full strenght then fuc'ed it off for the remainder of the grow & guess what the Brown Algae fuc'ed off aswell-funny that. loadsa people on here getting brown algae from using it! I hate to think what would of happened if he would of continued to use this crap!algae everywhere thats what! slime covered & no 'O2' to the roots etc.
me and many others conclusions were it is not at all suitable for D.W.C and that should be stated on the bottle but its not. well if any of the makers r out there & watching you should stick the relevent info on the side of the bottle before you mess anyone else's grows up- "IT AINT SUITABLE FOR D.W.C". we own £60.00 worth between us & aint got a use for it. maybe outside next year ah, as i think organics is all its good for, ok, it aint but is listed as organic just for the record! HYGROPOO "literally" fin shit!!!useless! Give me 'Cannazyme anyday= a nice clean res, NO f'in ALGAE
"Sorry people but it really gets on my nerves when the "hydro guy" swears on his kids lives that this stuff is the f'in holy grail enzyme add+ ye right- the retard, cost us $$$'s.

RANT-OVER!--No i'll stick to the nice clean Canna range thankyou.!!

Scrogerman: What if you added SM-90 to your list?

KingRalph said:
howdy TK. hygrozyme's definitely an incredible product. stems get monstrous. i first got it to battle pythium, in conjunction with sm-90, worked wonders that nothing else could ever do that's for sure, as it could deal with all the waste of sm-90 destroying fungi etc where other zymes would be killed by sm-90. to me, that combo is THE root rot medicine.

The brown slime algae is a problem if the roots aren't treated with beneficial microbes first (days) before adding Hygrozyme. Hygrozyme breaks down organic matter quickly which feeds the bad bacteria, like brown slime algae. Once the root zone is well colonized with benes then Hygrozyme is fine to use.

Just a part of learning the craft.
