Hydrohut problem..

Bankroll

I recently got a hydro hut delux and come to find out that it is about 3 inches too tall for the room I want too put it in. I am considering taking a hack saw and cutting the 3 inches from the female ends of poles that stand the hut up, I was wondering if doing this is going to cause me to have troubles with the hut as the material will no longer be a tight fit over that frame, will it cause light leaks or anything like that

I believe someone else on the boards has done exactly that.
I guess this brings a new motto...measure twice, order once :joint:

I don't see why having a bit of extra fabric would cause light leaks.
Three inches is no big deal, but a foot would be another story.
As long as the intakes and outtakes are not obstructed by hanging fabric, and sources of heat are not touching the inside black/white poly, you're good to go.

Just thinking about where you'd want to cut. I've got the hydrohut mini, which is probably similar in pole arrangement. When I assembled it I assembled the top plus four vertical (when upright) poles, and matched it to the bottom plus four vertical poles. The top had the tapered pole that inserted into the bottom "blunt" pole end. If I were you I'd cut the 3" from the bottom blunt pole.

Let's see what others think.
G'luck,

I wouldnt do it. The tent wont fit very well over the cut poles and you will have lots of slack. Just sell it. highst

It shouldn't be a problem. It just won't be clean, but it will work fine. But make sure to keep the bottom part from overlapping and blocking the intake vents.

I guess three inches of the bottom wont be too bad, just might look like some saggy titties.

Could be a bitch to zip up too. be that could be delt with. peace_highst
