Hydrogen peroxide

Im having trouble with what i believe is brown algae in my bubble cloner. Im using a small plastic tub with a few small airstones in it. I wasnt having any problems until about 2 weeks ago or so, and have not changed anything that i believe would cause it. I am planning on cleaning out my cloner and water bottles that i use to refil the cloner with bleach tonight. But i am also considering adding some hydrogen peroxide to kill anything that may be in there. Im just not real sure what a safe mixing of 3% would be per gallon of water. I read over a lot of the sticky on slimy roots. i think im going to have to go back to using my Light warrior to clone with if i dont get this figured out.

Any help, please. :1help: Thanks.

after reading just the first 10 pages or so, it makes me want to just go back to using LW to clone in. Still not sure what im going to do, the physan 20 seems to be the only real way to stop it, and seems very potent.

what are you guys with the slime in bubble cloners doing to keep it away?

Earthworm casting tea was the end result of that thread. I recently got slimed for the first time and am battling it out right now.

It's some nasty crap. clean it all out today, it's back tomorrow. Ugh.

Tonight i moved some recovering plants into flower. They made improvment with ewc tea but still had the hydro virus.

Ran the empty flower unit overnight with 4 tsp Physan in 10 gallons of water. Flushed it out, then dipped each veg plant, net pot, and collar into 3oz of 3% H2o2 in 2 gallons of tap water. Loaded them into flower unit running tap water only.

Tomorrow night I will add EWC tea, and the next night a light mix of nutes... we'll see how it goes.

The stuff is highly contagious, so do not use anything from the slimed tank in any other tanks without cleaning it first.

Good luck!

thanks soco. I grow in soil using FFOF and earth juice nutes. I just have the slime in my bubble cloner, but its holding things up not getting any clones to root. Just cut 2 other clones and put them into light warrior with rootech rooting powder.

with the EWC tea can i clone in it as long as its just a weak strength of EWC tea?

bleach your bubble cloner (and all parts) and try again, rinse it well.

better yet, use rockwool, domes, and a heat pad.
never had a problem with rockwool! stable and forgiving.

im going to wash all of my bubble cloner equip with bleach then rinse and wash again with a water and 3% H202 mix. Just bought some EWC to make my tea. going to hopefully have it all cleaned and up and running with EWC tea in the bubble cloner in the next 24-48 hrs.

I dont have the room to use rockwool and heat pads in my small micro cab. I can put a few in but not as many i would like/need. I do have a few cuts in LW, but love the simplicity of the bubble cloner. Basically set and forget, other than to refill with tea every few days. what ratio should i mix the 3% H202 per gal for cleaning/sterilization?

H2O2 is one of the most underutilized products in hydro, or any kind of growing where you don't care about benies. 3% is what you want for killing shit. The advantage of H2O2 is that it goes 100% inert in 2-3 days where 99% of all other cleaning products leave a residue that has to be rinsed, and hopefully your rinsing with sterilized water when you do cause other wise your just putting the bad bacteria back in the rez.

i was thinking about that, when i wrote that post. im going to rinse it all off with distilled water that im going to use to make my ewc tea to avoid any contamination from my tap water that i normally use.

any suggestions on mixing the h202? i still have to search a lil more about, but if anyone wants to chip in and let me know how much to use per gal that would be great.

When I used H202 I would generaally 10-15 ml per gallon of the 3% HP or2ml/gallon of the 35% every 48 hours.

thanks weedhound! is that your dog in your pic? I love german shepards, used to have a white one. want another one, just have to wait til i have the room.

spray bottle. pour in h202 until reaches 5:1 ratio. fill in rest w/ tap water.
spray areas of concern, @ least weely... if using individual containers, spray inner-sides; squeeze container & spray onto sides of media; spray drainage holes; spray top of media until visibly moist... @ least weekly. this is preventative...

15ml (1 tablespoon) per gallon of water, w/ every watering/feeding... this is constant oxygenation/aeration, mild oxidation & general cleanliness...

1 oz (2 tablespoons) per gallon of water to oxidize most undesirable growth/pests/non-bene bacteria, etc...

I used to use lots of H202 in my grows but stopped when I realized how much it takes away from using the more natural fungicides and natural "zyme like pruducts" (not organic necessarily) but I prefer Serenade for mold and mildew on the leaves and cannaym and rhizotinic....my faves for root care. Something REALLY bad with root issues.....DM Zone (but don't forget it has a bit chloramine in it.)

good luck

I think DM zone and H2o2 R incompatible, I cant remember for sure though so check there site. But H2o2 goes inert after a few days and you only really need to use it every once in a while so you could use the zone when your not using it.

I think i read some place in the long slime sticky that DM zone actually delays rooting because it contains some nutes. Im about to wash all my cloning stuff with bleach water then again with H202 @ 15mL/gal to sanatize it, and will rinse it with some distilled water i got. have my EWC tea brewing right now in a 5 gal bucket. I only made a lil over 2 gals and used about 3/4-1cup of EWC and 2 tsp of molasses.

how much 3% h202 per gallon would be safe to use in my bubble cloner? I tried the ewc tea and still got the slime, i may try again after washing everything again and using some of the new ewc tea i just made. but also i want to try using distilled/spring water with h202 if it doesnt work this time around with the tea. If all else fails i will either get some physan and use it in my bubble cloner or just drop it all together and go back to light warrior and maybe trying rapid rooters/jiffy pellets.

1 to 1.5ml per liter of 35% food grade. The 3% you get at the corner store is well not what you should be using. It contains far too many additives and stabilizers not intended for hydroponic use. ie not food grade.

If you have a local hydro store, they will have it. I have been told of people that have used the medical peroxide and had stunted growth for some reason. Just better to use the right stuff from the get go rather then messing around with the wrong products.

good to know outportgrower, i will get my hands on some of the 35% to be safe. i'll go get some this weekend. hope it stops the slime.

3% h202 has worked fine over several seasons, @ 15ml (1 tbspn) per gal...

active ingredients: hyodrogen peroxide 3%, 0.001% phosphoric acid as stabilizer, purified water.

~1 coin @ dollar store; no stunted growth...

enjoy your garden!
