Hydrofarm socket assembly part of RF shield on Lumatek?

With my 400w Lumatek ballast I got a Hydrofarm socket assembly that looks like this (not the best pic):

Now I'm thinking of rewiring the cord to adapt it to an air cooled hood or cool tube. My question is: Will this affect the RF shield at all? Does this socket assembly block any RF or is it just a standard socket assembly?

Thanks :smoker:

Ya i got 4 240v 600watt blue lumatek ballasts comin on the way with cool tubes, I cant wait to see what all the hype is about, im so exited, except for the fact that its pretty difficult to find someone who makes flip/flops for digital ballasts (and yes you must do a special procedure in order to operate digi ballasts on a flip/flop properly). I have heard that the purple ones are even newer, is this true? And if so, does anyone know where i can get some for a good price? thx

lol me too but just 1 x 600watter ... but end of summer

5% less usable light than a 1000watt magnetic ballast with up to 25% less electricity than a magnetic 600watt ... yes please lmao :jump:

and with a rf sheild .

Yes, you are correct. Sorry, no idea on where to get one. I would call around and see who has the purple ones in stock. I believe the major changes from the blue to purple is the ability to run special bulbs (Hort, Argo, etc) without problems. Even if the site shows a purple one, call to be sure because they may try to be getting rid of old stock.

This is true but I believe this is based on bulb lumen output rather than initial usable light. Basically in the beginning of a bulbs life the magnetic ballast will have slightly more output. But after firing a bulb for a few months the decrease in lumen output is much faster on a magnetic than a digital ballast. So 6 months down the road, the digital ballast bulb is going to have a higher output because of this. In the long run is where the extra lumens actually add up to make a difference over a magnetic ballast.

So far I couldn't be happier with my Lumatek. I had a really crappy BGH magnetic ballast before and it made an annoying humming sound. The digi is literally silent and I love it. It's also smaller, lighter, take MH or HPS, and won't degrade bulbs as fast.
