HydroFarm Growzilla Setup..

g'day everyone.. I recently bought the growzilla from hydrofarm. It has 2 cordsets that are specifically for hydrofarm ballasts. my ballast, unfortunatly, is not hydrofarm. other than the specific plug, is there anything special about the 'hydrofarm specific' cordset? its has a 3 prong plug at one end, that i assume plugs into the hydrofarm ballast.
inside my ballast there are 3 wires coming from the bulb cordset that enters and is connected inside.

could i connect the cordset to my ballast?

no nothing 'hydrofarm specific'...other than shape and size. There are adapters available to sunlight supply and sun systems ballasts if that is what you have...that way you dont have to hardwire. Or if you are comfortable doing so you could just hardwire, like you hinted to in your post.

Thats sunny, that is what i thought.
Unfotunatly i dont have either of those. Its an InsideSun ballast..

I think im going to just buy hps and mh ballasts from hydrofarm..

With a little tinkering this moring i managed to fit the cordset for my ballast in the reflector, so i guess i dont need the HydroFarm ones after all..

if i'm not mistaken,

if i'm not mistaken,

the growzilla is a dual lamp 'a/c' hood*

the lamps are positioned parallel, right next to eachother. (filaments parallel)

*i believe it's a 4" flange for air cooling.


If buying one,
you'd want to look into the sunsystems dual hood before jumping into anything.
reason??this hood........

A. Comes with a 6" flange

B. Positions the lamps head to head so that the filaments are in line.
.....logically, this should offer a longer? footprint....something to think about

if it was me making the purchase sleepy, i'd make sure it was available in a 6" flange if using any of the larger wattage bulbs

the 'hydrofarm-specific' female? plug is on there strictly for convenience.
you can modify that to fit your ballast for sure.

hey sleepy! i bought only the reflector but im planning on outfitting it with hps and mh. 400w of both should be fine for my needs.

howyabeen cj, yup 4", there are 3, one in front one in back one ontop..

i'll post pics when i get time..

big mike, check out this link for misc. hydrofarm ballast parts and reflector socket assemblies. I hope it helps you out in the long run, I know what it's like to be tight on ducats.
