Hello everyone,
I am looking to put together a new indoor hydro set-up after being out of it for a while. I am previously an E&F (rockwool) guy using the lucas formula, but I am intrigued by the DWC. Also i usually grow from seeds, i don't like dealing with clones or mothers. I am going to try SGS pink salad 16 plants in a 4x4 table.
I was initally thinking that i was going to go with a 1000 HPS in a 5x5 gorilla tent over a 4x4 E&F tray using rockwool (bulk & crouton mix) in 9x9 netpots. However I am contemplating making a hybrid E&F / DWC set-up and I wanted to get input from the community to lessen the learning curve if possible.
My thoughts are to make a tray with 16 cut-outs for my 9x9 net pots
and this tray will be secured to the top of the flood table suspending the net pots 2" - 3" above the bottom of the flood table. I would secure 4 of the active aqua 48" flexible airstones along the channels in the tray powered by an active aqua 45L/min commercial pump. I am wondering if I can flood the tray 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off during lights on only and set the drain to the correct height so that I get a DWC effect?
What do you guys think of this?
Also, I was thinking of using the rockwool croutons as the medium, but I was concerned if the would retain too much moisture. I have never used the hydroton, but maybe that would be more appropriate?
I appreciate any useful input.
Best regards,
