Humidity problems

Hey guys,Well I'm on my second grow here in Colorado. And the humidity here is way low.Never had this Problem in Virginia. So I'm having problems keeping my humidity high enough. I even tried 2 reg.size room humidifier. And that doesn't work.So the room is 6x8 (2)1000watters
With xxl 8inch cooled hoods.I run an 8inch for exhaust with one end of a light open
So it draws thru lights(the exhaust) 66 can I use to scrub.A 18 inch oscillating fan,box fan&a small tornado fan blowing up.This is my first time dealing with powdery mildew &it sucks. I figured it happened cuz I spray my room down alot to keep humidity up.So what kind of humidifiers do you guys recommend? Now I'm trying to stay under $200 guys.

is the room reasonably warm? above 65F?

soak a bath towel, soaking wet and hang it up on a makeshift towel bar or something, with a drip pan underneath so it doesn't ruin your floor...

A small room, like you describe, should see a rise in RH.
Cheap as you can get...

VPD when not in check diminishes yield/quality

I dump water on my grow room floors to raise rh

I just bought a 26$ humidifier warm mist for my veg and will also drop essential oils in it

Good luck keep us posted im always battling this here

one thing ive found with humidity is its pritty much impossible to really control and to just stop being so obbsesive about it. had the same issue for along time same size space and lights. tryed wet towls wal mart humidifers buckets of water nothing worked except adding more plants or until the canopy got big enough that the plants transpired more thus raising the humidity. more important things to worry about than humidity like not overwatering not over feeding and not killing you shit cause everyone forgets its a weed and will grow like one if you stop trying to overdue everything like 95% of growers! trying to help cause i was quilty of this for far to long and spent way to much time on forums learning from people who dont know how to grow...

i live and grow in co. The reason you are getting PM is its consistently getting humid then dry. You need to just let the Humidity stay what it is. The plants don't like an unstable environment which allows the spores to proliferate. Turn your exhaust fans down, you may have negative pressure which makes the problem worse. A little better to have some slight positive pressure in the room, if its actually that tight, adding an intake fan to a sealed room isn't always bad always good to get some fresh air in. Store buckets or totes of water to get a consistent relative humidity. place them up against the wall in the room far away from the plants as possible. The key is to keep a consistent environment that the plants like and pest and disease don't. 30-45% RH is fine. The plants are pretty drought resistant, they just drink more water instead of taking it in through tissue. Plants are a lot like people.

That doesn't work enough.So I'm getting a humidifier that's big enough

Do an Internet search 'greenhouse wet wall'. You can get the cellulose pads cut to any size, then you have an inexpensive evap cooler exactly the right size for your space. Connect the fan to a controller if you want to maintain exact levels!

If you are pulling air from the room via an open ended reflector vent you are moving the air out faster than a humidifier can keep up. You won't be able to get rh higher than the ambient air you are pulling into your grow.

You could use an intake fan from outside to pull in cold air on a thermostat to cool the room while still venting your lights with air from outside the room.

That would allow you to add humidity that would stay up. Probably be high enough on its own if you have enough plant mass. My .02.

Want higher terpene production/retention?

Keep your canopy temps around 72F, your RH around 20-25% (basically leave it alone) and veg almost to size before flipping. Keep in mind, soil and medium based hydro does better with 72-75F root zone temps. My incoming air to the bottom of the canopy is 68F.

Cheers

Dude you just described my tent's conditions to a fucking T.

I grow in Colorado in a tent. As you said in VA like myself in FL never had the rH drop below 65% , so it was always humid in my tents.

And now your terpene production and retention is f'ing amazing? Welcome to low VPD flowering. lol

I think I'm gonna get a humidifier for a 2000sq.ft.Not too expensive. It also has a humidistat on unit so I should be able to keep humidity at proper level

probably more than 200. in wall or freestanding, high humidity in short time, can put ice in top.

Are you venting outside? Plants dump loads of moisture. High humidity is the typical issue in Midwest. When I hang dry my clothes, I run a dehumid. Get a machine to dry the air that sets rh%

What is your outside rh%?

Also a dimming sun rise sunset can stabilize humidity.

Yup! If you can turn the fans down, do so. I've seen problems in bigger grows that are basically due to design flaws. People will try to run 10 lights in a shed, then to cool it they need 3 or 4 10-inch exhaust fans, which requires a ton of moisture to hydrate the 2000cfm of air that's ripping out of the room, in addition to the 10k watts just burning it up. The rooms couldn't realistically support more than 5000w.

Lasko makes a big humidifier that holds about 3-4Gal and is a simple cold fan + wicking element + water pump. You can find em on Amazon. It will get my space (5 x 9ish) to 60% humidity in the summer. They have kind of a big footprint, but they are cheap and easy. It might not be enough, but it raises my humidity about 35% (I'm also CO).
