Humidity issues solved with motorized ducting dampers.

Hey Guys,

Thought i would share my problem solving solution to the humidity issues i was having.

Last run i had humidity so bad that it rendered my filter useless and caused a lot of stress.

Being a non-sealed room, lights off humidity was around 90% and lights on around 40%

Dehumidifier made little difference to lights off because air was just being pulled straight out the extractor fan.

This set up has 2 2k rooms with a lung room with filter and 12'' fan. each room has a passive intake air cooled lights.

What i have done is put a motorized ducting damper on each duct that goes from each room to the lung room.

The dampers have 2 live cables, one constant live to keep the damper open and one live to close which is switched.
What i have done is put a dehumidifier in each room with permanent drain and on timer, the live feed to the dehumidifier is tapped into and fed to the switched live of the damper.

When lights go off timer switches dehumidifier on and damper closes around 90% still allowing a small amount of air flow and keeping negative pressure and can be changed easily to allow more airflow to allow an increase of humidity.

Then just before lights off the dehumidifier turns off and the damper opens back up.

These 2 rooms are flip flopped of this process 12-12 allowing for me to also run my 12'' fan at a lower speed reducing noise too... now my soundproofed room is next to silent.

Hope this helps someone out there as this information was not out there when i was looking for a solution... only advice was sealing the room and getting an AC unit which is not an option at this spot.
