My first trip and I'm so excited. Planning on attending school so I tought Id visit first. Curious if anyone recommends anything in particular to do and see, Im definately interested in the Medical scene there or acquiring some of the finest meds cali is so well known for. Can anyone push me in the right direction? collective names, everything must be 215 sb 420 compliant. Im not trying to meet randos. Any parks, events, restaurants, wonderful people absolutely anything that could benefit a humboldt noobster. My main interests are cannabis, food, and nature so I think I should be set. Thanks and much respect to everyone on ICMAG.

Congratulations, for doing it the smart way! I assume you mean HSU for school? That's how I did Humboldt and it's the only way to do it now I would say. If you are a student at the University you will not have troubles renting a place, your chances of ending up in the plaza begging are much lower and you won't become another jerk blowing up the spot and not being productive.

Pace yourself. . . That's my main advice. Understand that you are starting off at the bottom as far as MJ goes, but school is your focus now anyways so use your time in school to establish your network in Humboldt. Then, grow like a motherfucker when school is handled and you have a feel for what goes on out there.

You won't find a place to rent and grow in Arcata or within 20 miles of it, every landlord there knows whats up. You can't get into any club without a california license and california medical rec.

The HSU campus is nice, lots of good parks and groves around it. Trinidad is awesome, check out the beaches just west of town. Old Town Eureka is really cool, stop by Bon Boniere for some good ice cream treats. Hang out in the Arcata town square and you will be approached for weed within a minute.

Yea for sure Humboldt is blown the fuck up. . . Not much fun anymore, unless you're in the hills on a plantation. Everything is relative though, I wouldn't recommend going there unless you are going to HSU or college of the redwoods. Otherwise it's a real tough fight upstream, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger right.

There is the College of the Redwoods too, but HSU is the place. I loved every minute I spent up there. I graduated in 1992. They finally forced me to graduate because I had too many units. For sure, you need to go to Los Bagels and get a Tomonion on a slug with Larrupin sauce. You can thank me later. Plus Humbrew is great for suds.

By the way I grew in every house I rented. In Arcata and Beyond. My old roomate is still paying the same rent we paid when I lived there. I miss it incredibly.

Once you get there and get settled, join the Humboldt Mycological Society. Learn mushrooms. Some you eat for dinner and another you eat for fun. Sometimes they grow in the dunes along the coast. They also grow on campus. I once found a patch of Psilocybe cyanescens right outside the Psych Building when returning to campus after Thanksgiving break. I ended up with 3oz dried. Then take those on Moonstone beach in the late afternoon. Enjoy a bonfire and trip hard as the fog rolls in and really makes things weird. There is at least one cave on Moonstone beach. Leary suggested taking them in a cave and then emerge while tripping for the ultimate rebirth. Enjoy, life is good up there if you don't have to worry about making a real living. If you do the economy is majorly depressed along with most of the residents of Eureka. Stay away from the dead enders up there. Heroin and other dead end drug are prevalent and will fuck your life up. Stay away from them, seriously.

Thanks so much for the answers guys some inspirational and some hurt my stomach, I hope I find good people, Im solely visiting right now and planned on college of redwoods and HSU. Well see when the time comes, Thanks for the food spots thats just gold. I was told of an amazing bbq place I need to hit, also lost coast is a must.

And I am from cali with a rec lazy so any reccos on collectives or coops? I cant believe I forgot to ask about glass. That should have been the foremost. The headiest local glass shops any names?

Arcata Scoops for ice cream. Humboldt Glass Blowers and Time Traveler in Arcata, STIL in Eureka. The Co-op next to Humboldt Hydro and HPRC is in the same building.

What an adventure. LOS BAGLES, win.

Cannabis, the best. The highest quality is identical to the stuff here in socal, only its done correct. It taste like it smells, and its as smooth as breathing air, people really dont know how to do organic down south. I thought I need BHO to get by. But really I need high quality medicine and Humboldt and Trinity delivered. I cant wait to make the move.

The places I was blessed to stay at all grew cannabis, I was lucky enough not only to see a farm in trinity but camp on it and pick wild oyster mushrooms, It was so sweet. 3 of the 5 greenhouses were already harvest but one house had more plants than I knew what to do with anyways.

The prices, the people, the culture, the trees, the beautiful women and the true reality of life- they all gave me instant euphoria and culture shock. I dont get what you mean blok I just think the lifestyle may not be for you,I loved everything there, the teachers being BS tho I totally understand and thats everywhere, rather have a marxist liberal up there than a nazi conservative down here.

raph when I go back, Ill hit the scoops they were closed when I went, and the glass as well, I just didnt have time, people I stay with actually were friends with hermit but I didnt get a chance to grab anything like I wanted. My friend offered to sell me one of the dirty dishes he had that was Ti signed '09 but I wasnt to fond of it, it was super grimey with erl but an easy soak coulda cleaned it.

WHAT THE FUCK are we doing in the city. I cant wait to get out, and I thank you all for your advice and help. I couldnt begin to describe the things I accomplished and the friends Ive made. FREE CANNABIS. peace.

I will admit my experience with HSU jaded me big-time, but living in humboldt for 4 years I would definitely do it again. Fuck that school though man I only wanted to learn knowledge, stuff that should have nothing to do with social politics of 21st century USA and all they wanted to teach was motherfucking social politics and it really pissed me off! Now I have student loans to pay back and for nothing basically.

This is how I describe Humboldt to people and leave it up to them to experience I suppose:

Remember the scene in Pinocchio where the kids are all smoking cigars and gambling and shit, and everything is insanity because the kids are in charge well that is how Arcata is.

And thats how it should be, Im sick of serving fuckers their goddamn sandwiches fuck businessmen and all the damn yuppies that make up this satanic capitilistic suburb I live in, I dont want no part.

I'M in charge is right, hope its like that when I get there bruv, I need some control in my life, I work and stress and depress too damn hard to have nothing at all to show for it, Its so hard to move out and make something of yourself here and even if you can succeed all those things you can choose to be are just not things for me, you only live once and I'm sick of being miserable and working for something I don't believe in, I hate living in the suburbs and I believe there's more purpose to life. I believe the Redwoods is a great place to search for that purpose, The open forest, not an open book.

I thought it'd be lonely and depressing in Humboldt with absolutely no one and nothing there, but there's just soo much fucking love and fun to be had, but like you said, its all what you want and how you look at it.

I hate BS teachers that put in their two cents, half of my art history class is why we shouldn't be prejudice and how aids is bad. So I feel ya with the BS politics, at least with prejudice and aids you cant really disagree both aren't bad. Politics is something else tho.

and LAZY its true about arcata the landlords make you sign a paper saying no 215 but there's always eureka and many other places not too far if you're lucky enough to find a place that is for rent, friends out there give their landlord stash and he brings over his product for them in return(hardware appliances) lol, Peace.
