It's how Hydrofome420 put it, would you go to jail for them? Would you trust your very life with them - everything you have and know. Totally trusting them to never breathe a word to anyone on this Earth, no matter how much they wanted to.

Even if they would never betray you - one accidental word in casual conversation to someone else.

Anyways, if you even had a glimpse of doubt - that doubt should have already answered your question. If the laws weren't so bad maybe things could be more open, but right now - it's just not worth it. Another bad thing that comes from friends knowing is...hey, dude, can you GIVE me a lid - you grew it, didn't cost you anything, so give me a lid. What a way to ruin a friendship.

Your basically asking the crowd, " I wish to do something so stupid that is against all common logical wisdom. Should I still do it? "

You are also masking the reason you want to do it. You arent considering as an attempt to preserve a frendship, you are thinking about how telling your clique of buddies is going to escalate your level of cool among them.

#1 rule is no one that isnt critical to the operation needs to know, period. Because there isnt any benefit to them knowing, there is only liability.

I understand exactly what you are saying and I don't think it is stupid to think about it or ask it. Why do we post our grows here? To share right? I can see where one may want to share with their friends the knowledge and the beauty of growing herb.

Just ask yourself honestly if out of the friends you would like to tell, do you trust them with your life? I don't think that is out of line, I trust my best friend with my life and my sisters and my husband. So it does happen with friends, generally lifelong ones, ones that there is no question of their love for you. It isn't an impossible thing to happen.

I know why you wanted to share and I don't think it had anything to do with being cool.
