HPS Question

Hi i had a question, today i put my single plant that is an unknown strain under a 150 watt hps light for the first time I'm running it 24hrs for a little while to help my plant fill out, but the plant is starting to look droopy after it looked fine today before i put the new light up. Is this normal? Should i have watered her before i put it under a new light? Im just wondering cuz this is my first time using a hps.

thanks

krazee,
Could be it needs to be hardened off. The plant may not be used to the lumens you are now giving it. Move the light further away or give it only a couple hours at a time.

As far as watering, plants should be watered properly regardless of lighting.

ok i moved it up a little more, im at about two feet above the plant. Should i just lower it after the plant springs back up i already planned on keeping it about a foot away from the top of her.

krazee,
Lower it gradually. If the plant reacts negatively, move it back up. My guess is you will end up with it closer than 12 inches. But, I'm no expert. Search out the lumen chart and the 150W club for how close you can run. When I get lazy, my mothers grow up to the glass separating them from the bulb. They don't burn until they touch the glass which is about an inch or two from the bulb.
