my Mr Nice Shit has a nute defo due to high ph in the soil, the water and feed solution goin in has been around 6-6.5 im just flushing through now with water at ph 6 and the run-off is nearly ph 8 this is the plants on the left...any ideads anyone?????????
sure buddy. remix your soil with a tbsp or two of epsom salt and add some crushed oyster shell, that will bring your PH down like no other as well as add some cal/mag too
Most alkaline soils have a ph no higher than 7.5, which is a little too alkaline you may adjust this using "gypsum which is in drywall (power up the inside, or get it from your garden supply)and will free insoluble nutes. Adding sulphur will neutalize insoluble salts. Cottonseed meal which is very acidic and high in N can also be used(coffee grinds, pine needles and citrus rinds) but using organic matter will take time to break down and be usable. More immediate cure is with gypsum, and it is added at a rate of 75#'s per 100 sq. ft of soil. Then foliar spray. (hint)add some gypsum in small amounts in a test pot to correct then apply the known dosage to your planted ones.
I just mix up a teaspoon to a tablespoon of Dolemite per gallon of water, Then i flush the medium really well with distilled water, and then water them witht he dolimitic lime water...
Also ive heard of people using vinegar at the rate of between 2.5ml and 5ml per gallon of water for getting ph down but i havent tested it myself so i cant garuntee that for sure.
I understand now. The soil where I live is pretty acid, and I till in lime every year to get it up a bit. Tomatoes really dig the extra calcium too. The calcium is good for indoor soil grows too, but calcium can lock-out magnesium uptake and cause "yellowing" of leaves. Can always foiliar spray epsom salt solution to counteract this.
