How would you water 25 liters pot?

Hi!

How would you add water to a 25 liters pot?

Last grow I was able to add 7 liters of water in my 25 liters pot. It takes HELL A LONG TIME to dry. Like 10 days in the beginning.

If I water like 2.25 liters each 3 days, I'm afraid to overwater?!?!?

What would you do guys?

Thank you!

A 25 liter pot takes about half gallon to almost 2 gallons depending on plant size from my experience. It sure doesn't take 10 days to dry out. Mines about 2 days to dry sometimes sooner other days just depends.

What soil are you using? Maybe your soil retains to much moisture. Next time add more perlite to help the media dry out faster and your roots will have better aeration. Are your pots plastic? If so maybe try drilling holes on your pots. That's what I do.

might take 10 days when the plant is small. but in the height of summer when she's fully grown you'll be watering every day probably lol. you could set up a small 50 lt barrel and mix your nutrient solution in there then just use a watering can to give the soil a good drenching when needed. normally people will go by the weight of the pot to tell how dry the soil is. but with a big pot and plant that can be risky and back breaking, so a moisture meeter would be a help, you get some quite cheap models.

i would suggest using a smaller pot...if your plant was the right size for that pot, it would dry out quicker because the plant would be drinking it faster. if you know they are going to use a pot that big maybe you could transplant into a transitional pot that is smaller, then when the plant is better matched to your huge pot you could transplant again. you would think if you can grow a 2-3 foot plant in a solo cup a 25 liter pot could grow a ten pound plant that filled a room.... adding pearlite does the same thing as using a smaller pot, it's basically an inert substance that takes place of your water/nutrients in the soil, much like when you put a brick in your toilet tank to take up water space. it's the same as just using a smaller pot except you still have that huge ass pot taking up space. i would suggest getting smaller pots, or look into bed growing. i prefer growing in beds and always find a chance to recommend one big bed over a million little pots or even one huge pot. my beds probably hold about 25 liters, but they are only 10 inches deep, so they have a LARGE surface area, that means they dry faster, and because my plants are using the soil efficiently they dry evenly and quickly, (5 to 7 days). beds also have the benefits of making it almost impossible to have a plant get rootbound, no matter how close you squeeze clones together in them. also the large amount of soil acts as a buffer, it takes a lot longer for ph to change as well as nutrient levels to swing, vs a typical small pot.

If it's not to cold in the box/tent, you could try a small fan blowing some air on the dirt. You would be surprised to find out how much faster it dries out this way :tiphat:

even a 16" computer fan would make a difference. specially if you get the ones who come with a cheap speed controller in the box! :smoker:

I used these pot 2 grow and at the end they need 7 liters every 5-6 days.

I use Pro-Mix with 25% worm casting. I water 4 liters and 2 plants have been ok for 14 days...

My clone are 2 weeks in 16oz cups, 1 month and a half in 4 liters pot and I transplant them in 25 liters pot flowering day 1. Veg is under 200w T5 fluorescent.

Good!! I'm using 1 gallon right now but I know that my 25 liters pot with pro-mix in it can hold 7 liters...! I already did the test...

In the present grow I added 25% of wormcasting the my pro-mix...this have the effect of holding more or less water?

Riippe, It work with 1 gallon. But you don't use ALL the dirt in your pot. If you use nutrients right now and in 1 month the roots get to the moist/dry point in your pot they will cross a line that the nutrients are accumulated A LOT because you never did a runoff and never fully watered your pot.

Ok.Thanks for the advice!Im getting runoff, but also starting to get small problems and i think its because of excessive N and P..Maybe thats because i havent watered properly.

What kind of lights are you growing under? If your lights that don't generate a lot of heat like CFLs then the soil will take longer to dry out. Under 600w HPS lights in dirt or coco in 5 gal pots, which is 25 liters, I was watering with 4 cups, or 1 liter of water, about every 3.5 days.

I grow under 1000w and the temp are between 26C-28C.

1L every 3 days!!! The pot was filled with roots? Seem very few to me. I give 4 liters every 8 days (at the biginning) its 2 liters per days...
