How would you grow 20 plants?

Hello IC!

It's been probably 9 years since I grew last and back then we just grew without any kind of order or plan. We just had a few 1000 watter's and threw a bunch of plants in there(young and dumb).. You live and learn though, right?

My girlfriend and I just acquired our medical cards and can have 10 plants flowering each for a total of 20 plants. We will be moving into a new and bigger place in 6 months, so I have plenty of time to plan and prepare. My questions to you is, how would you grow 20 plants if you had one room to use for flowering and veg? A big ass cabinet for the flowering and a 4x4 cab for the veg? or just use the actual room for the flowering and build a veg cab in the room? would you use 600's or 1000's? LST or some sort of other training? I will for sure be grwoing oraganic in soil with the EJ products and a few other things mixed in. I am trying to get some ideas so I can figure out what equipment to buy, etc etc...

I have access to Green Crack and Blue Dynamite clones so I am thinking about flowering 5 of each while I start some seeds of something else to look for a keeper..

Any input is much appreciated!

Haha the blimp is funny....

Well, I do want quality and quantity, I would love to have a perpetual grow where I can get up to 3oz's a plant. I will probably want 2 strains, one for for an up happy high and the other for a sleepy couchlock high. I am a very build it myself type person with a fine eye for detail so the design will be top notch. I should have around 3-4k to spend on equipment. I'm thinking digi ballasts with either the 600's or 1000's. The only thing that will be automated will be the timers for lights and fans.. Veg time will dictate the strain and how large they need to be to net the weight I am looking for. As far as the size of area I would need to get 3oz's a plant I am unsure of.. Let's say I was to grow AK47 or some other high yielding strain. How large do you suppose the plants would need to be??

I had a whole huge thing typed up but lost it all! I will keep adding as time goes by.. I need to go run a few errands right now, anyways.

Thanks everyone!

Put a large AC in the room and hang vertical 1000hps and grow all 20 as massive trees in hydroponic buckets. Veg clones for a month and you might get a half pound per plant.

I agree with the bushes and buckets, takes some fine tuning (most guys overwater with them at the beginning) but it can be complicated and expensive (pumps, chillers, lots of tubing, etc) so it depends on if you want to hand water every other day, or want a complicated automatic system.

If growing bushes and doing perpetual yes you'll need a veg room, at least big enough to let 10 of them get about 24" tall in veg, plus room for a mother or two and some clones. 1000W lights would be a must, but I hate vertical bulbs, too much light wasted. Good air cooled hoods are easier and cheaper to cool than big A/C's. WIth a 9 week strain you'd get 3-4 ounces per plant on average, more if you're awesome, less if you suck. Co2 would bump this about an ounce each though, if done right.

If you stay on the ball, get good reliable clones off your moms and don't screw anything up you can get 5 harvests a year like that, of roughly 30-50 ounces per. Not bad, I'd suggest putting about 3-4 plants under each 1000W and rotate them often (daily is good if possible.) Keeps em nice and Christmas-tree shaped.

Just for you two??

I'd go organic soil myself..

How much money are you talking about?

How much room.. Does she want her own light?

I do okay with a 4x4 box of organic soil..

SO what are your ideas?

Oh yeah, and ten good sized (3-4' tall) bushes will take up about 30 square feet of space, and you'll need about a third that much space (and about a quarter the wattage for veg)

I'd do 3-4KW of flowering light and probably 3-4 250W MH lights for veg, T-5's work ok for small plants but vegging 2' tall plants they will get stringy/leggy under just fluoros. Oh, and as soon as they can take it, use fairly strong fans to beat the crap out of them in veg, they will need STRONG stems to take the weight of the bud. Still, plan on staking them up. This is easier in soil pots than most other mediums.
