how warm should area be where seeds germinate?

i was gonna place my seeds (wet paper towel in cracked open container method), in basement on top of heat duct in rafters. i put a temp guage up there. it read about 79 over night. how warm of an area should seeds b in to germinate properly? thanks.

That sounds about right....

I use 82-85 the same as my cloner....

Ive read others who say about 80 degrees is best....

so 79 80 82 something like that....

i use to put mine on top of a computer or cablebox. those should be running around high 70s

Many people also use computers, tvs and cable boxes....

they do so because they feel warm....

since your hand is in the 90's to feel warm that object must also be in the 90's....

You might be surprised if you actually measured the temps....

My monitor by the way feels warm and is about 100 degrees.....

so upper 70's to 100 then...? big difference. i figured upper 70's best, as long as dark and humid also...in the rafters it's 78. on top of heat duct it's 83-84...
gonna start germination tonight...

Like for cloning 78-85 but not much higher or lower than that.You dont want to see 90 degrees if you can avoid it.

This is the same thing I said originally....

78-85 for seeds and clones....

I would also agree anything over 90 and you could start cooking your seeds.....

While my monitor is around 100 I dont use it because I think its too hot.....

Why more people dont use one of these is beyond me..... 2 or 3 bucks....

82 degrees...perfect for seeds or clones....IMO.....

must be a constant temp of more than 70 degrees. and kept moist.

just started germ of paradise fem ice cream. in wet paper towel folded over a few times in a small tupperware container w/ lid just cracked. container sitting on top of heat duct in basement at 82-83 degrees...
