How to Use RO water for soil

I have done a bit of research on using RO water for soil grows but there is one thing no one seems to talk about. Since plants do best when fertilized every other watering or even less frequently, what do you do when not adding nutrients? Do you just add calmag to the RO water or is there more to it?

Good soil has a good supply of nutrients in it and not all of it is released in one day.

What do you think happens to jungle when it rains.

I don't think Cal/Mag falls from the sky.

Hey troutman, I get that. Assume I have poor soil that does require additional nutrients. With tap water, people generally only add nutes every other watering or less. When not adding nutes they use plain tap water. With reverse osmosis I think you would need to add something to it to prevent plant damage.

You can fertilize each time you water your plants "if" you don't use a lot.

If that's what you want to do. Start using less than the recommended amounts and slowly increase over time.

Eventually with practice you'll know what your plants can handle.

I hope this helps. :tiphat:
