an easy way to put water in is to put some in your mouth and blow it into the carb/choke whatever you wanna call it.

could i fill it w/ something other than water? my cousin suggested red cool-aid, and a buddy of mine suggested apple juice.

is there any difference between flavored liquids and water?

Flavored liquids will leave your bong/bubbler sticky inside? I gave some tea a try after trying hot water in the bong (it's interesting, give it a try) and noticed a subtle flavor from the tea vapor. I dunno how well it would work with cold liquids though.

this dude did that in front of me and I thought he was on sherm. I don't know what flys around your neighborhood but if you come to the big easy your gonna wanna refrain from filling the bubbler with your backwash and spittle. just my .02. I'm not even sure how people would react to that quite frankly, but if it wasn't your pipe lord help you.


clanner just fill the bubbler up and hit it until its not hard to pull but still has good water filtration and doesn't get in your mouth. and remember to empty the used bongwater out the carb so the mouthpiece stays clean of funk.


you can use flavored liquids if you want but you'll have to clean them thoroughly with rubbing alcohol and salt after each use. which you should really do anyway.

I've got friends that only put in a little bit of water where it's barely touching the stem.....personally I fill it up to its max as long as it doesn't bubble up to where you're going to be sucking water if you take a big hit. My theory is the deeper the water, the more distance the smoke will travel through water, and the cooler/smoother it will hit.

Be sure when your testing it to test it with the carb closed and the carb opened.


Also, I use flavored liquids if they're available, just don't use strong alcohol!!! Flammability could cause your piece to explode! My favorite is koolaid, there is a very subtle taste of koolaid when you take a hit. Just wash it out with water and it won't be sticky, although rinsing it with rubbing alcohol and salt will keep it looking brand new.

*edit* I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet.....BUT DON'T DROP YOUR PIECE! Man that's such a bummer to get a new piece only to break it within a few days.
