how to tell when female is ready to get pollen to make seeds?

depends on how many seeds you want. If you want alot wait until after the stretch when budset is on and stacking has begun.
For few seeds you can pollinate as early as preflowers in veg. They will develop in veg the same way as in flower, if ya just want a few

You can do it right away soon as flower sites with the white hairs are growing out. But if you want a lot of seeds on a 8 week strain, maybe wait 3 to 4 weeks after you start flower, then seeds will have 4 or 5 weeks to mature. When the white hair catches pollen , the calyx is comes from will die and the calyx will turn into a seedpod. That how you know it was successfully pollinated. When the seed pod is ready, it will start turning yellowing and burst open easily and the seed will just fall out.
well these plants i fully plan on making seeds. there 4 clones of my alien grenades in 16 oz solo cups that want to turn into full seeds producers.. ive put them into flower about
1.5 ish now maybe 2 at the very longest.. and there just starting to develop some small bud sites with a couple hairs comming out now. should i wait a longer ?

i start around this stage , at a minimum . but i,m after a few seeds . then may hit them week later again

sweet thanks so much guys, dont want to screw up this project cause only got 1 seed to germ of alien grenades that is a female and got some male pollen from a freind on another form from austrail from his only seed that popped that was a male. so got to get it right or wont be able to make any more seeds

hope your pollen was stored well , i have heard it can be fussy . so may not be viable if it hasn't been stored right .

If your working with limited stock and don't want to mess it up, leave the male in there for a few weeks during flower and shake the shit out of it. If im working on just one strain fro seeds in my room, I generally choose a male (or two) and let it drop pollen all over the females for a few weeks. Yeild is low on over all bud size, but it doesn't matter. I get 200-500 seeds per plant of of 12/12 from day one in 1-2 gallon pots.

Oh. Somehow I missed this, reading too quick. Like stated above, pollen can be fussy. Has all the moisture been sucked out? Airtight storeage? Proper temp storage? I have had pollen fail on me a couple times. Might be best to start a male plant as backup in case this pollen isn't viable...just in case. You'll know pretty quick after pollination is bunk. Watch the pistols for browing, if they stay fresh white after a couple days, the pollen didn't work

well i dont know how it was dried. i got it from a friend on another forum who had a pack of alien grenades that only had 1 seed that made it that was male.. he said he dried it then put it in a unbleached white envelope and mailed it from austral to me in the usa. cause i had a pack of alien grenades with only one seed that made it that was a female so i dont have a male and this is the only attempt i got to make fresh seeds.
