okay im not new to growing but have never tried a scrog,my question is how do i ,do i grow the plant in veg state up till it hits the screen then bend and grow it sideways to say fill screen 75% full and then flip to flower?

depends whether its indica leaning or sativa leaning. Since Indicas finish earlier, you would fill your screen 2/3 - 3/4 and flip. since sativas take forever and stretch, you can flip it when your screen is 1/3 full.

there are different ways of doing it. some weave, some just use the screen as a guide. some say one works better, then someone comes along with great pics and yields to prove them wrong so...experiment and find what works best for you.

also, tons of threads about SCROG. you should probably read through a couple grow logs too. everyone puts in their 2cents there and its all good info.

I find that LSTing the plants initially helps a bunch, and it gives you more freedom to do just about everything. Once that damn screen is in place, you are really limited in what you can do!

I agree with all if this. low stress training is the first step to a good looking scrog and i myself avoid putting in my trellis til as late as possible cause as said before, once in place, it really limits your ability to do a lot of things. dont for get to lollipop all plants about 10-14days into flower to rid your grow of larf

You got the basic idea, but as others have pointed out there is a bit of art to it (how high to set the screen, how much to let it fill up, ect). Check out mod-ScrOGs which are basically one plant ScroGs that have the advantage of allowing plants to be removed.

I've come to believe that ScrOG and LST can be the same thing and can be used to produce similar plants. Below is a picture of a plant that I trained over the container to achieve a virtual ScrOG or screenless ScrOG.

I prefer a rigid screen versus a trellis.i use zip ties or wire ties to keep an even canopy

after training

couple days later time for another tie dow and defoalition, the sceen may look full but theres still plenty of room to create more tops

If your new to Scroggin, dont try to weave branches, they'll snap, or you will have more chance of snapping them. Let them grow up through the screen 2-4"(max 4"), then pull back under screen, through the same hole it grew up through & move it along to its next position further along under the screen & pull back up so the branch/shoot sit at 1/2(half) an inch, wait till it gains height to 2-4" again & repeat, untill your screen is where you want it for flip, 50-75% depending on indi/sati dominance. think ahead & train for shape!
G'Luck!
